Torreira has been poor because Emary is trying to convert him to an advanced role just as was seen last season with Sarri and Kante.
Play Torreira in the position and role that he gained our attention = DM ball winner.
He's too weak and he can't link play from the back to the midfield.
Think him being weak is a good point, and something that made us suffer yesterday. Xhaka, for all his faults, generally stands up to a challenge. Torreira just doesn't, and it's easy to see why. He's so tiny that he looks like a kid playing with seniors on the pitch.
His weakness in challenges was exacerbated by the rest of our lineup too. Guendouzi is pretty lightweight too; how many times did he just bounce off their midfielders like a tennis ball? Pogba is massive so no surprises he was sent flying in that one particular shoulder-to-shoulder situation, but it happened repeatedly, and more alarmingly, a couple of times when he was facing our own goal.
I think Willock on current evidence is the only mobile midfielder we have who relishes a physical challenge. Those long legs are a great help.
