Yep always liked him. One of the most tactically astute and versatile players around. That stat just jumped out at me after seeing it on Twitter

If Milner had even a modest amount of explosiveness athletically, then he would have spent his whole career playing for the likes of Barca, Bayern or Real. He's a fantastically well-rounded player.

Some are underrated others are way overrated.

Carrick and Milner(who was highly valued at City and was offered sh*t load of cash to stay but still chose to leave) have been the most underrated in the past decade. They are proper midfielders who really understand the game.

Gerrard on otherhand was one of the most overrated players in the history of the game IMO. Brilliant goalscorer (in the big games) but he had too many flaws as a CM IMO.

Agreed on both accounts I think. I always found it weird how unwanted they were by the national team. It was the same with Owen Hargreaves, who was a key player at Bayern while english tabloids ran online polls asking people what they'd rather bring on the plane to the world cup in his place: extra training cones or more water bottles.

Exactly.

More specifically though, I would say English players that play for Man City tend to get less protection from the media. Sterling's been involved in 31 goals this season - if he played for United, Liverpool or even Spurs, the media would be hailing him as the saviour of English football.

Don’t get it with Milner personally. Literally spent the game fouling Roma players and otherwise doing a decent job of everything else.

Wasn’t good enough as a winger, wasn’t good enough as a midfielder and ended up being shifted to left back. Good utility player and that’s about it. Nowhere near as good as Carrick.

I didn’t see it that way, what I saw was Nainggolan have a decent game among a team that under performed. Henderson didn’t do much for me, and was upstagged by Milner in midfield. I’m favt, I can’t remember anything meaningful From’s henderson in that game.

Nainggolan had a really good game, don't know what game you were watching. And he's anything but cumbersome, he would be our most agile CM instantly.

I love him as a player but the time to get him was 2 years ago. We've already too many players around 30. We need someone younger we can build the midfield around, especially if Ramsey wont sign on.

He was the only decent roma player. Beat their press on his own at times, but eventually just got swept away by their tempo

Exactly. Sterling has been amazing, way better than Sane but in every match I watch the commentators go on and on about Sane while ignoring what Sterling is doing. The guy is 23, super fast, can beat his man, makes great runs and scores and assists a fuck load of goals. He's been played ahead of Jesus as striker a load of times by Pep. He's had a brilliant season but still the talk remains about Kane who is in shit form.

Forget about the lack of praise, the general coverage Sterling gets from the media is disgraceful and carries some sinister racial undertones in my opinion. Yet these same people have come out asking us to 'leave Harry Kane alone'. Fuck off.

I think that's uncalled for. Alli, Rashford and even Chamberlain are hailed whenever they have a decent game. Sterling is brilliant though, too bad we never worked out a trade deal with Alexis.
