Yeah Salah is top quality. How he mamaged to go for so little amd to Liverpool out of all places after his 2 spells in Italy with Fiorentina and especially at Roma I will never know.

Maddening, isn't it.

To Liverpool's credit they have someone in their scouting department who knows what's up. They don't get transfers right all the time, but they snatched Suarez too right before he exploded. I don't even think the calculation is that complicated; they're just looking at the development curve and the numbers being produced. Makes you wonder what other clubs are doing.

It really does. Salah wasn't an unknown by any stretch of the imagination. Yes he "flopped" under Mourinho but the guy was there lile half a season and did mot get much of a look in.

He was smashing it for Basel in the CL against Chelsea before his move which prompted them to buy him and he's consistently been productive from the wing since them. And come on, Mourinho has a way of fucking up attacking players who aren't units.

Yes, the numbers this year are out of this world but he would have been very good for about 15-18 goals at least based on his previous numbers over the two seasons before his move to Liverpool. It really is surprising that Liverpool were the only ones even slightly interested in him.

Firmino or Gabriel Jésus?

I was arguing with a couple of Liverpool fans who were drooling over Pep and City that they could thrash City in this game. I’m genuinely not surprised.

Haha City look like us at the moment. Credit where it's due,  the Scousers have been brilliant. Creating chaos and thriving in it seems to be in their genes, they did that so well when they nearly won the league few seasons ago.

Hope City somehow get something out of this match

Yup City look like us. They forgot to turn up at Anfield just like we do against Liverpool or United.

I'm not sure they really deserve that much credit for it, it's more that others should be slated for their inactivity. Suarez even taking into account that he came from Holland was a huge talent clear to anyone with eyes in their head, it's not that difficult to take note of a guy who scored 30+ and assisted 20 more goals in a season while being one of the hardest workers in the team

Liverpool simply pull the trigger more often and are not afraid of taking a punt and a loss if it doesn't work out the way it did with Carroll Benteke etc. They had Aspas on their books and sold him because he didn't work out - the same guy who'll probably be Spain's starting striker next summer ahead of 60m men Costa and Morata. Liverpool aren't anything special (certainly less shit than most clubs to be fair), they just try more often

Thing is Liverpool, even when they are shit, believe they are a big club and act on the transfer market like a club that has the ambition of a big club. We pretend way too often, and usually flatter to deceive.

You wonder how Chelsea fans feel about the fact that Mourinho derailed both de Bruyne and Salah and then sold them off cheaply. He did the same thing with Matic too, only to then buy him back for what was a shitload of money at the time.

Yep, I think that's it too. As opposed to us who'll follow players around for years only to walk away from a deal because we don't feel it represents good value. If there's one thing I would burn to the fucking ground at Arsenal it's the scouting department. I'd prefer if we just fired every single one and let Mislintat restaff. I'm serious too. What an absolute abomination the last 5-6 years have been for us.

He did the same thing with Lukaku as well to be fair. Bought him for 17m, gave him no chances and deemed he wasn't good enough so kept shipping him on loan and then eventually bought him for 100m at United. He really is a clown.

Lukaku was the 4th one I couldn't remember! Yeah, he's done it a ton. Mourinho doesn't do player development. I'd be worried for Martial and Rashford right now if I were a United fan.

Is this a scouting issue? We’ve been linked with every remarkable player, from an early age. We just never sign them. I think the issue lies beyond the scouts on the ground, somewhere between analytics, first team coaching or contracting

Liverpool seem to go for the obvious talents not quite at the top level that your average fan likes the look of. While that might not work all the time it probably will most of the time. We always seem to shy away from those.

They went for Oxlade and it's working.

Liverpool are quite special now. Thanks to Klopp.

Painful stuff.

Very watchable team right now, more so than the people’s team, Tottnumb. They attack with such vigor. Watching City so helpless in these last two games against them, reminds me of Pep at Bayern as he faced Real Madrid in 2014. Just had no answer for that attack

If we had a board with any semblance of foresight, we would be what Liverpool are now with Klopp managing us.

City need to play the half of their lives.

Just a goal here with 2-0 at home would do.

Yeah, I don't understand anyone saying this is over.

Is it? I'd be fucking furious if we spent close to 40m on a "midfielder" as inherently flawed as him, the occasional Stevie Me piledriver doesn't change that
