Yeah. He played centrally for much of this season but has played wide left before if I remember correctly and is hardworking and technical. I don't think we need a defender in that position, just someone who has the workrate to cover when needed. The most important facets for a WB in my view are sufficient pace, strong technical ability and a decent workrate. Your more conventional defensive capabilities are not all that neccesary especially if on the other side you do have a more conventional full back (Bellerin in this case). Perisic would be a pretty efficient wingback too by my reckoning.

I'm not too bothered either way as i feel Monaco are taking advantage of our desperation.
The three other clubs vying for his services were interested at £26m but have all gone quiet now the pricing has gone silly.
Of course if we could offload our expensive deadwoods (Walcott, Welbeck, Giroud, etc) then, by all means, go all out even though i don't see him elevating us to the heights an out and out striker like Mbappe would.

Definitely dead, it's dragged on for too long. Can't see us getting him now, especially if city manage to wrap up Mendy fairly quickly.

They've been linked with Mendy longer than we've been linked with lemar. Monaco just don't actually want to sell lemar Mendy or mbappe. I think teams will have to pay well over the odds for those three.

Just spend the money on Seri instead of Lemar. He's got a release clause of 35m.

I don't buy that we failed because Chelsea were faster than us, it makes no sense. If they knee that Chelsea wanted Bakayoko and we Lemar and they were only going to sell one, it'd make no sense to sell to the fastest club. They'd just keep the player they wanted to keep and sell the other one.

Someone said a while back that literally everyone at Monaco is for sale for the right fee, and I think so too. Their philosophy is about buying cheap and selling expensive. If we can't get Lemar done it's more likely the problem is that we don't think he's good enough to warrant whatever Monaco want for him.

The same claim - £52m transfer fee and 100k a week in wages - is being parroted by so many of the Arsenal twitter guys. They're all saying exactly the same thing - which is very unusual. And theyre also all saying that this will be announced immediately after the tour concludes.
