I don't know, it's not just Lacazette, there's Welbeck too unfortunately. Wenger just recently spoke on our game being about pace and may be he is consciously looking to shift philosophy. Welbeck looked to have displaced Giroud last season when he got fitter at the back end of the season. I obviously would love for Giroud to stay and give us a different option but by all accounts it's looking unlikely.

I am not questioning our propensity to spend anymore, but our willingness to leave money on the table which we will not have next season, whilst we are also spending big.

I don't see how the two are linked personally. I definitely share your doubts on Sanchez given their historical inclination to take a pragmatic view, in fact I'd be quite pleasantly surprised if they were prepared to sacrifice 60m+ on Sanchez. But I'd expect them to try and sign Lemar regardless, because our net spend will still be relatively low even if we kept Sanchez. In the end, it's all about the bottom line.

Some fights are unwinnable though. If Wenger was happy to keep Giroud on the bench while Welbeck was barely managing to get a shot in he's not going to drop Lacazette for Giroud after spending £45m on him.

With a bona fide back3 I'd like to see the flanks pose a greater attacking threat.

I really don't think he has it in him. With his stick legs and horrific stamina. He could only get through 60minutes once a week. they're midfield shifted over to cover him in defense. I'm really not sure he has it in him motivation, fitness and stamina wise to play at the level we want to be at. And at rwb he'd be further exposed. We might get 6 great months but I can't see him grinding out a few good years.

He could rotate with Sanchez and Özil, if they stay. Wouldn't buy him as a replacement though.

Quite worried about this one. If we don't sign him, who do we have who can actually play at LWB? Would the Ox be first choice there? Think Nacho and Kolasinic are both much better suited to the left sided centre back role. Nacho would be the better of the two at wing back but it would be asking a lot of him to play there all season. Think paying over the odds for Lemar might be needed - just look at how much Chelsea and City are struggling to buy players for a similar role.

If this Lemar move falls through I'd us to look at Bonaventura for the role. First choice would be Ralph Guerreiro but I think he's injured? Ideally we wrap up Lemar. He's be perfect for what it looks like Wenger intends from his wingbacks. Bellerin/Lemar for the bigger games and Lemar/Chambo for the others.
