I will be stoked with this.

Have been reading some compelling points as to why he is better suited for us than the likes of Aguero, Aubameyang & the likes.

Another good reason is that he's not Benzema or any other CF in their late 20s or early 30s,
let alone that at age 26 he's both entering his peak and has been a 1 club man to date in his career, meaning that if all goes well we could see him here for the full 5 years (or more because of his adaptability shown by his various roles to date).

Geez Lyon got a lot of penalties last season. He seems pretty good at tucking them away though - left, right, down the middle doesn't seem to faze him. From last season's goals there weren't a lot that he made himself, but then we haven't really had someone like that since Henry. And I suppose the Dutch bloke who came after him.

I think it's worth to mention he won a lot of those pens.

Ah thanks - Youtube doesn't tell you that obviously.

Yay, but also, meh.

Lacazette in, Sanchez out would not be progress. But at least we'll have one fresh goalscorer in the new season, and his numbers are prodigious.

i still have a lot of questions.

are we going to stick with 5 at the back?

if alexis leaves, then what? do we sign another "winger", another playmaker like ozil, or do we play with 2 strikers with ozil behind them?

if we don't stick with 5 ATB, why are we changing? we've been vulnerable defensively for the last decade.

if we sign lacazette, alexis leaves, and we sign mahrez, i dont see how that is an upgrade. lacazette is better than giroud/welbeck/walcott if we are going to play with a single striker and counterattack. but losing alexis offsets any gains we get from signing lacazette.

we better not be done. and i really hope we stick with the new formation.

To be fair everyone in the squad is shit at penalties, I'd welcome someone who puts them away. Henry scored plenty of penalties in his 30-goal season as well.

If Sanchez stays I don't think we need to add another attacker such as Mahrez.

Cech

Mustafi Koscielny Holding

Bellerin Ramsey Xhaka Kolasinac

Ozil Sanchez

Lacazette

That looks very strong. I'm keen to see Ox go and replaced by another winger (not necessarily Mahrez) but that's it.

Here's something to ponder,
Sanchez plays his best behind a roaming CF as seen for Chile and with Welbeck, more so than when he himself plays CF.
Lacazette is ideal to play this role and to also pose a genuine goal threat more than the likes of Giroud & Co.
The current 3421 places Sanchez in an ideal position to emulate his role for Chile as a roaming SS, rather than playing as a WF from the flank.
Until such time as Sanchez departs I fail to see what's not to get excited about this.

I agree with this. We could see in the cup final how Welbeck's movement and workrate were creating problems for defenders and creating space for Alexis and Ozil, and Ramsey, between the lines - he just is unbelievably shit at anything else. With Lacazette you get most of the same positives and he actually can score and finish as well. Having someone who can score penalties is a plus as well.

And that's what's so depressing about the thought of Sanchez leaving, right when we have bought the exact type of striker that would compliment him perfectly.

"Alex, t'es si génial!" 😉

Reckon the hilarious thing would be the chorus of silence if we were to put Welbeck in the shop window.

Plenty would be after him, he'd easily fetch as much as Giroud too.

A fit Welbeck is an ideal utility forward & is likely to be part of the ENG WC squad more so than either Walcott or Ox, simply because he can play across the front line and IIRC before the latest injury he was top goal scorer for ENG in the WC Qual campaign.

We absolutely need another CM. Ideally someone who knows how to deal with pressing.

From the current active English footballers, he's only behind Rooney as the highest goalscorer for the England national team.

He's way better than Walcott.

Is Lacazette even that quick? Acceleration? Running in behind?

Maybe. Welbeck's four or five years younger than Giroud.

I still don't want to see him in an Arsenal shirt, his attributes, work rate, versatility, pace, have only ever stacked up for us in forum threads.

Liverpool and Utd fans seem to be worried about Arsenal signing Lacazette.

He doesn't look it.
