Lol. Dula. A smart man would understand the Mbappe percentages and say, if its less than 20% and Real Madrid is leading, then help Madrid get the kid. Put in a serious bid for one of Benzema or Morata and bring them to North London. That will give Real the funds to put the Mbappe discussion beyond a doubt, so he doesn't go to City or Pool.
And then go get a midfielder. I'd be happy to build around e.g. morata and Fabinho going forward
Agreed.
If you are likely to lose out then ensure the player does not join a direct rival.
Same applies re losing your own talent = try to ensure they do not go to a domestic rival.
That said you should stay in the fight as long as you can, and even if you do then chose to go to planB, make sure that the price is such that they need to sell top / starting quality in order to make room and/or to provide revenues.
Mbappe's supposed fee is such that I doubt any non PL club could meet the fee without selling starting quality to both make space and to raise revenues. As such whilst the player may prefer to go to RM I doubt that RM can afford him without selling, which then puts the buying clubs in an advantage to secure a bargain opportunity IF you get in first. The worst outcome would be if RM agree a market value fee with ManU on a potential target such as Morata, that then anables them to sell another player/s elsewhere for a more reasonable fee that can be met by non PL clubs.
