LOL. I’m sure you can, but that’s not how these lists work. These are popular works. I think there is a necessary framing - popular Anglo (English - American mainly) albums of high quality. Once you have that framing, a lot of records disappear. And then you need to go to specific lists for that. If you approach it with that mindset, the list is generally fine and won’t stress you out.

I’m not expecting a Madvillain, Dilated Peoples, Little Brother or even someone as popular as Black Star on these lists. Nas’ debut always also gets shafted because I don’t think he’s ever reached the necessary pop status. There’s a different place for such discussions

Then call it a shitty greatest popular pop list. I just checked and Rolling Stone state on their website the list was elected by people like Beyonce Taylor Swift and fucking U2. Why would those people know the first thing about music or good taste

I know well that it's just Anglo albums and that you can't expect lesser known artists to feature. Even still if you include classics you have to include albums with commercial success AND critical acclaim within the respective genres. Kanye and Kendrick albums are mostly found on iPhones of people who listen to the people named above anyway

Also D'Angelo on #28 and Beyoncé on #32 😆

Hmmmm. Let’s see. Those artists have probably sold 100m records amongst them and won over 50 Grammies collectively. I think they know a bit more about music than you. I’d rather their opinion than those of keyboard warriors the world over.

So popular reception is what counts now? Do you think fucking Crazy Frog who went platinum like 20 times knows music too. Is Trump a good leader? Do you eat pizza with pineapple on it? I bet those are sold even more often than U2 records.

Speaking of, I found a record the other month where Edgar Meyer plays that suite on bowed double bass, and it might be my favourite recording of it along with Yo-Yo Ma's version on Six Evolutions.

To cheer you up, Y Va, that list includes works by the ultimate rap chameleon Drake. Lol 🙂
Maybe they should do it a bit like the 40 under 40 lists and have specific experts who pick people in different domains - businesspeople, musicians, etc. they could’ve done the same here and had a rock list, rap list, soul list. Find some breakout that is relatively even and have the domain experts rule on each area.
