Maybe they should do it a bit like the 40 under 40 lists and have specific experts who pick people in different domains - businesspeople, musicians, etc. they could’ve done the same here and had a rock list, rap list, soul list. Find some breakout that is relatively even and have the domain experts rule on each area.

Be interesting to see what they would come up with

Yup, exactly. Was introduced to his music by a mate and was surprised to learn he was w white guy singing like that. Haven't heard any of his albums since but that one had a lot of songs you can, as you put so well, vybz to. More so when chilling back with a nice big, big ahem cigarette.

Don't think I've listened to much of The Game since LAX even though he was one of the artists I enjoyed listening to between 2003-2011 or so. Heard a few of the singles at the time but they didn't draw me in to listen to the whole album. How would you compare it to his previous stuff?

It's great. I'm still fond of pre-millenium tension too. Was listening to a portishead mix on Spotify yesterday too. I still reckon that generation of trip hop holds up really well today.

It has several strong tracks, collaborations and solid beats- Pray, Heaven’s Arms, All that, See no evil, Can’t get right, are my favorites. Features a few too many guest artists for my liking, but I’d still rate it a 4/5 album.

I loved Maxinquaye back in the day, listened to it so much that I can't put it on that often today. Portishead's first two albums however I still listen to every now and then.
