On U2: the U2 songs I love tend to be the ones that are quite riffy. New Year's Day, I Will Follow, Bullet The Blue Sky and, obviously, Mofo- stuff like that.
Pop was, for me, the sound of a band who, albeit in a slightly bandwagony fashion, tried to do something different and- at least partly- succeeded. Whether people like it or not, the music on Pop is far more interesting that anything that has come since, particularly on their supposed "return to form", All That You Can't Leave Behind.
