It's a decent summary I guess, the quality of the debate was poor but only because MLP wasn't there to debate. She was clearly trying to provoke Macron into making some sort of fatal mistake.
I disagree with the article's take on terrorism, I think that Macron's responses on the issue were pretty nuanced and reasonable. I've seen a lot of praise for his stance actually.
It also doesn't bring enough attention to the pure and utter incompetence that MLP displayed last night. She arrived to the debate with a huge pile of folders, notes, and flash cards, spending the entire debate reading and rummaging through her notes (and still managing to spout objective falsehoods). The best part was when she was discussing SFR and mistakenly reading her notes on Alstom 😆 Pure amateur hour stuff.
Regarding her recent double currency plan, she quite clearly didn't understand what she was saying and seeing her try to bluff her way past Macron was cringe worthy (bearing in mind that Macron's an énarque, ex-banker, and former minister for the economy)
Then there was this bit, which is comedy gold:

Finally, at the end of the debate both candidates are given 2 minutes to talk about a topic of their choice. MLP hadn't prepared anything and gave it a pass. Amateur hour again 😆
To summarise, the overall quality of the debate was poor due to MLP's constant criticisms and interruptions. She failed to properly present her programme or make any real propositions. Macron defended himself well, remained relatively calm, got off a few zingers, and explained a few aspects of his programme quite well. This debate was thoroughly embarrassing for MLP and It definitely showed that FN isn't a serious party, has no real programme, and is incompetent.
That being said, MLP's unlikely to lose any votes but after that complete car crash of a performance Macron may gain a few people who had planned on abstaining (mostly FI moaners).
