Like it or not, it seems more realistic that lacazette is our man rather than Mbappe. We will probably piss around so long, that when we finally get it over the line it will feel like an Mbappe-type signing anyway.

not sure we should jump at the price.

perhaps a shorter term option

I wanted him a couple of years ago but now Bacca is no better than Giroud. That'd be another shit CF signing.

Likewise in the summer he moved to Milan = yet another CF that we 'lost' in holding out for the likes of Morata, or in our saga re Jovetic, Higuaín & Suarez.
That said he's still a better fit than Giroud IMO, but I'd not be paying market value if he's being replaced at Milan by another CF we were looking at last summer.

The lack of any real news is very disconcerting. Aside from vague links to Mbappe, which feels like a bit of a fantasy at the moment, and Lacazette, who feels like an underwhelming and significantly overpriced signing, it doesn't feel like we're on hot on the tail of anyone right now.

Hopefully things speed up after the internationals.

Trying to sign players with the handbrake on.

I imagine we're not going to make any more signings until we're sure what happens to Sanchez and Özil. And even then we can forget about midfielders and central defenders, because we signed those last year, even if both of them turned out to be Southampton level players.

One midfielder and two strikers is my prediction.

Should be shifting 5-6 players as well.

I imagine Wenger has seen the market prices and is now in bargain hunt mode for the summer. Couple of big buds that are below asking and he will be able to say he tried his best.

Perhaps something from the merry go round at Real Madrid when they've decided who will go.

If we are after both Mbappe and Lacazette then you'd imagine Sanchez is on his way out.

Add in Lemar and Ozil could be gone too. That'd be a great front 3 though.

If Ozil and Alexis is sold this season, but we get that trio I won't be too disappointed.

It wouldn't work in practise though. Unless we play 2 up front but I think that's unlikely.

You could see yesterday that Mbappé went up a level when Giroud went off and he became the focus of the attack. Suddenly he was making runs that were being picked out, receiving the ball high and linking with others - that's what he needs, that's him at his best. You could slot a Lacazette in beside him and it'd be fine, he just wouldnt do much except bang goals in - the same thing Falcao does for Monaco. But we're a midfield team and that would leave us short where we need numbers to make our team work. On top of that, Wenger's just not going to do it.

Lemar also is not a top attacking midfielder. He's not creative enough, his touch isn't good enough, the weight of his passing isn't good enough, he doesn't have enough of a goal threat. I want him here because he has a lot of other good parts to his game but as a left sided midfielder/wingback, whatever you want to call it.

If both Ozil and Sanchez are leaving, and I don't think they are, then the only solution would be to buy Mbappé for whatever they want for him and give Dortmund the €85m they reportedly want for Ousmane Dembele. Easy!

Talk about a potential swap deal is the Telegraph but that rarely ever happens. I just can't be bothered with Lacazette whilst Mbappé is still to make his mind up.

laca is ok, and id take him ahead of lukaku. definitely not a willy shaker, as dula would say

Slight switch in formation maybe?

--- Lacazette - Mbappe

----------- Ozil

Sead - Xhaka - Ramsey - Bellerin

More likely he's just a backup for Mbappe falling through.

Think it's one or the other. Also think you'd need more of a midfielder in that LWB role if you haven't got someone in the midfield that can occasionally provide width the way Sanchez did in the 3-4-2-1 we've been playing.
