😆 Milan are paying some crazy money, 25m euros for 31 year old Biglia. Lolito is a master of getting big transfer fees.

Agreed - my point is more to do with the numbers of starting players they are signing, and the speed with which they are taking direct action.
Also we've been linked to Kessie, Rodriguez, Kieta & Belotti in the last couple of summers so it's not as if they are buying dross.

A new Dzagoev?
Doesn't look like a DM as it says at the start of the video.

Liverpool Exclusive: Klopp willing to pay Arsenal £40m for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Would bite their hands off for that price tbh. Maybe get Sturridge in return, one of their crock + some cash for ours.

Agreed & I think Sturridge would be better able to play more minutes in our style as we are not so intensive off the ball meaning less demands on his body.  He's still a better goal scorer than our current CF options with the possible exception of Sanchez.   That said I'd like to see them together as part of a front 3 with Ozil.

If Welbeck spends this much time injured at Arsenal then imagine what it would be like to have Sturridge here. He'd play 5 games per season.

We should go in for Belotti again.

Was talking to some LFC supporters at work and they say the word is that Sturridge's injury issues have been rectified with his trip to the States, but the reality is that his style of play doesn't suit Klopp's style, regardless of his capability as a goal scorer.

85m release clause?

£50 million + 1 and they can have a sniff.

want to see the most unimpressive 24 goal season compilation ever? watch belotti's from this past season

I'm just throwing out another player we can go for. He'd be cheaper than Mbappe or Lukaku. There's not many in Belotti's age bracket with his production aside from the likes of Kane, Lukaku, and Icardi. I like the other parts of his game as well; he works extremely hard and is relentless, similar to Costa/Suarez.

As for the types of goals he scores, sure it might not be impressive, but he is versatile:

Here's a table comparing Belotti, Kane, and Lukaku:

Buying aguero could have a similar impact for us as buying van Persie had on United. I'm all for it get him in and pray he stays fit.

There's chat that we will bid for Rodriguez. Probably houseboat at this stage, but the calibre of player we will need to replace Sanchez.

Problem is we need James to play WITH Alexis rather than as a replacement.

Belotti is a proper striker. Big, quick, predatory and deceptively skillful. I'm not sure whether he can reach the level we should aspire to, but then again I'm dead certain that Danny Welbeck will never be anywhere near it either and he still started for us last season.

Klaus, you're right. When folks are always complaining about the quality of strikers we are linked to I always like to remind folks that it's been 9 windows since we lost van Persie, and there are no signs that we are going to ever bring in the next Henry. Would you rather sit around and wait for the next Henry while we wince everytime Welbeck and Giroud are in front of goal? Or will you take one of the better but not super quality options on the market like a Belotti or Lukuaku or Lacazette?

Belotti is simply not value for money at his current level. Torino is asking for what? 60m?

I don't think he is either. I'm just throwing it out there since apparently Lacazette and Lukaku are supposed to be good enough suddenly.

We are comparing to Giroud and/or Welbeck. The number of points we have farted away by having that combination as our top 2 is nuts. I would happily take any of Lacazette, Lukaku and even this Belotti. Of course for the cost, others such as Icardi might make better sense. We've slept on Morata by the look of things, which is plain daft, and the likes of Aubameyang, etc. are probably just a dream of pipes

Agreed. We really should have been all over Morata at any price instead of letting him go to Yanited. Hopefully Bayern signing Gnabry means they won't chase Alexis. We really need to lock him down, even if that means throwing 20m a year at him. Only solution now for us (barring the pipe dream of Mbappe) is to get Alexis playing upfront for the next 3 years and buying a top, young striker (Werner) as his backup. Speaking of young strikers, I thought Ademola Lookman looked very good today.

I don't think we could've signed Morata if United are interested anyway.

Why not? I think we can compete head to head with United for a single player. It's the overall haul that they will always beat us on. If you consider that the normal limits of football currently appear to be around 100-120m pound signing on fee and 300-350,000 pound per week salary, then we should be able to compete for special talents. And Morata would not approach either of those limits. He's a 60m / 180k player in my books.

One of the good reason Morata wanted to join United was Mourinho, the coach who given him his debut.

If the £70m being talked about is correct we could do better.

I was more talking salaries. Even though, like Claudius says, Morata is a £180k a week player, I don't think that stops United from offering more. Add to that that I think we'd need to offer a higher salary than them since we're not in the CL, and I just don't see it happening.

70m pounds is what men like Aubameyang and Lukaku will move for this summer. He doesn't have their recent record, but that's not due to a lack of talent. He's stuck on the bench behind Benzema, Isco and Ronaldo. Everyone on our team bar Sanchez would be benched by that lot

I think those two (if they move) will have higher transfer fees than that. Chelsea have almost no choice but to pay what Everton want after that Conte text to Costa.

I was looking at him scoring that goal with Lacazette and Mbappe on the bench the other night and thought it was kind of funny how we might break the bank for one of them but Giroud keeps them benched for France. Hard to argue with Deschamps decision given the way Giroud is doing for them but still. Its a funny old game I guess.

His release clause is reportedly 100mE which makes him in the same price bracket as Mbappe.
I have seen reports that he is an accomplished goal scorer and has a high work rate & is a good team player, but he's not flashy so is unlikely to catch the eye.
That said I think he'd work well with Sanchez & Ozil, but I suspect the reaction towards him is much to do with him only having 1 break out season and wondering if he can be consistent at that level.

What annoys me re Morata is that AW essentially wasted 2 summers trying to get him both when he moved to Juve and last summer when he went back to RM. Whilst I understand there is little you can do if the player wants to re-join a club / manager, it still means that we could / should have moved on from him 1-2 seasons ago and could have signed an alternative. IMO it's the same issue as AW being loyal to players already at the club, in that he can't see the forest for the trees.

TBH I'd be happy enough to sign Cavani as I don't think he'd go for top dollar.
The alternative would be to buy another bona fide goal scorer to take Sanchez' role (James?), and play Sanchez at CF.

He's the same manager that's starting a Dembele who barely played for Spurs over the likes of Ousmane, Mbappe, Lemar etc. Been long regarded by the French public that their B team is stronger than their starting lineup.

Do Spurs have a French Dembele in addition to their Belgian one?

He obviously meant Sissoko...lol.
