forgive me this post, let me indulge myself by imagining what someone sane might do with next year's squad.

GK: chesney, fabianski, martinez. sorted

RB: sagna, lansbury to deputise? we need a backup
CB: vermaelen, djourou, koscielny, bartley, squillaci. sorted
LB: new LB, clichy. gibbs to go on loan, he needs to learn to defend, but not on our time.

CM: fabregas, wilshere, ramsey, new CM who can defend, song, lansbury. aneke and frimpong to go on loan.

WF: nasri, walcott, arshavin, botelho. JET and afobe to go on loan.
CF: van persie, new forward who can play across the line

sales: denilson, diaby, eboue, bendtner, chamakh, rosicky, vela, almunia. what a list of losers. coquelin, watt, mannone, sunu, traore, hoyte also let go, good luck to them.
purchases: classy forward, LB and CM. should be < 15m net spend when you account for reduction to payroll.

bring in keown and bergkamp to bring some sense to the coaching staff - they'll be able to influence wenger for the better. i guess that means rice and primorac get the sack. it also grooms bergkamp to possibly replace wenger.

Disagree with alot of the sales, especially Chamakh Bendtner Eboue Vela. The others can go provided we bring in cover for Rosicky and a DM. Why would you sell Coquelin as well?

Seriously we are 2 players from a winning squad. Alexis Sanchez/Hazard and a DM, Moussa Sissoko?

A real striker. Enough is enough ffs.

Yeah, what has Coquelin done to earn the boot?

I'd prioritise a quality striker and a full-back. A winger would be good too.

frimpong's apparently better than him, so when is he ever going to get playing time? lansbury's further ahead in development. it's not an insult to say you're not good enough for arsenal - let the kid go and make a career for himself. same applies to eastmond, too, actually. of course, if either is any good and is willing to stay as 7th choice, then ok.

Get a pacey winger cos we suffer when theo is out

ffs get a proper striker

get an energetic midfielder to help our pressing game

get a leftback who can defend first and foremost

Apparently. Coquelin seems to be doing excellent in France playing top flight football, while Frimpong is crocked. At any rate, they're both still kids. Why choose when we don't have to? Lansbury is yet to play top flight football either.

i liked your post until i noticed you retain Wenger. that guy is the source of ALL our misery. he needs to go

I think today clearly demonstrated that we are desperate for at least one full-back who is top class offensively. Our fb's get so much room and space, Dani Alves, Maicon, Lahm etc would make a killing here.

We need forwards. Fast, clinical, dangerous, full of flair and trickery - wide players that when they get a man one-on-one they scare the living daylights out of them. We just look so slow and predictable up front that our passing and control through midfield counts for absolutely nothing. I want Eden Hazard.

Van der Wiel would be sweet. Normally I'd have been looking for a LB instead, but Sagna's form has been awful for the last month or two.

Problem is with van der Wiel, and I do love him and think he's a very good player, is that he about as weak as Clichy. Lacks any kind of strength or power, could be a problem in the Premier League.

We are dead both ways. We need a superb defensive full back like Sagna because of our vulnerable defensive setup, yet we need more attacking impetus and instincts from them too.

You can't have it both ways

😆 It's like what people used to say in the old Soviet Union.

If only comrade Stalin knew- He'd sort out these brutal corrupt commissars.

yea asa had a similar comment in another thread. "we need to buy a forward, a centre mid, a defender, we need to defend as a team, and we need to motivate ourselves better. other than that, wenger's the man for the job."

i have to admit asa sort of has me by the balls with that critique. i just think wenger's talent for evaluating talent is too valuable, but he's not going to accept a director of football job, nor would any good manager work here with wenger above him - too much of a potential conflict of egos.

Well thats not a bad thing, the last thing we want is a Wenger dynasty.

If it's a possesion game we're intent on perfecting we need to get in a fair few top cailbre players

banega for the midfielder

impressive attacking fullbacks vdv, baines

real live wire forward, rossi maybe

Ah fuck it, what's the point in wishing, we know damn well it'll be that oxlade kid plus some unknown right back at best

I'd happily take Parker. If only just for his determination and attitude. Ideally though we should get the very best midfielder we can buy to put beside Wilshere.

We need to spend big money on our front 3. I'd like to see us replace 2 of Arshavin/Chamakh/Bendtner with one pacey winger and one complete forward.
