I think you guys are little harsh on Fellaini on here:
Just because he's excelling in a more forward position doesn't mean he's average else where, I have seen him have epic performances against top teams playing as a DM - our match against Everton at the Emirates in January 2010 immediately comes to mind, he was fucking colossus that day and he was playing deep.
He doesn't have a great range of passing but he'll pass effectively from deeper positions(often playing the right passes), he's got a good touch(the best chest control I have ever seen along with Drogba), not many players get the better of him 1 v 1, be it contesting a 50-50 with him or trying to carry the ball past him, his tackling and positioning are both very good. One thing I look for in midfielders is their ability to receive the ball under pressure, Fellaini is very good at this, he can effortlessly control the ball under pressure, turn his marker and pick out the right pass. He's got good feet, not Yaya or Diaby good, but still pretty good. Overall I think he's a very intelligent footballer, good at finding space in the opposition box and also good at covering space in his own half, he hardly gets caught out of position when playing deep and generally makes good decisions with the choice of his passing.
Also, we could do with a player like him; he's a nuisance to the opposition and he never gives up. Could use him as a plan B too; when our passing game isn't working, drop the midgets deep, push him forward and hit it long to him and watch him bully CBs. Yes I'm advocating long ball tactics. I think we have to be realistic and realise we can't play like Barca and win the PL, not with the likes of City, United etc around, we have to add an ugly side to our game.
However, having said all that, I don't think we should go for him simply because he'll cost far too much, Everton paid 15m for him and they'll probably be looking for around double that amount, we better spend that sort of money on Cavani, Gotze or Jovetic. Plus he'll go for more than Oscar went for to Chelsea and that is a crime. Fellaini will move to a big club very soon and it will be interesting to see what he's truly made of.
