He'd be the kind of solid dependable player you'd want as a squad player pushing for the first team, but the likely price and his style of play would mean he wouldn't really be worth it in our team. If we sign an attacker I'd want someone who can also play as a centre forward when needed.

Although Ashley Young is/was a big Arsenal fan amd he'll only have 12 months left on his contract in the summer, so who knows...?

I'd still like to see how Theo would do up front, perhaps if we got another proper winger Wenger would be more willing to try it? He's always said that's where his future lies.

I'd prefer we go hard as well. All those players in the middle of the rotation who are not giving us anything special or different can go to raise funds. We're talking there Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky, Eboue, Bendnter. At least Chamakh gives us a proper aerial target even if he was only useful for 2 months this year. Cut the others, take whatever duckets they yield, and bring in a Hazard.

I suspect Aguero and Neymar's prices are far above any number that Wenger can conceive

I can easily see Ashley Young doing a great job for us. Not my first choice but he would be a quality signing.

He would give us a new dimension and a plan b. Hate seeing some of the crosses we put in. We need some alternatives to the migit playmakers outwide. Valencia gave that to utd.

Ashley Young gives you those crosses, but he also cuts in and gives you some dangerous shots. A rotation of Nasri, Walcott and Young on the wings gives you tons of speed. If he wasn't so expensive, Bent would also be a good shout for someone who'll just bump the ball into the net. He has a very respectables goals per shot ratio from what I could gather from Saturday's commentary

Valencia providing width and crosses didn't give Man United a new dimension or a Plan B - they have played that way for 20 years and had ample players in their squad to play that way anyway. We don't. We play a different way, and we're not set-up for someone like Ashley Young to prosper. I still wouldn't say no to him because he's a good player, but to really be a success here he'd have to adapt his game to fit us.

It's bad enough we have Theo going through spells (badly) imitating Stanley Matthews, but at least he's super-charged and a massive goal threat with his brilliant movement and finishing.
