Counting major competitions; we've played 3games in the CL, we've had two very good performances against the mighty Ludogorets and Basle and 1 below average performance against PSG. How about the game just before it (Tottenham)? or just after it (PSG)? Why United? You haven't given a satisfactory answer. I assume you see United as our bogey team. I do not.

If we won that, would this thread be suddenly less "premature" and "embarrassing" to you?

And this thread is not about "lasting the distance". It is about enjoying watching us play.

I'm still waiting for the evidence on this consistent attacking play you mention because judging by the games I've listed, it's been stop start like previous seasons gone by. We've probably reached greater heights on one or two occasions, Ludogorets and Basle being the main two, but the quality of the opposition has also played it's part.

We've been playing entertaining football every season. Last season I count United (H), Everton (A), Leicester (A) amongst others. We just haven't done it consistently enough and we sure aren't doing it now like some would make you believe. Whenever we've played with a mobile front 3, we've looked good. There is no strange phenomenon happening currently apart from an extension of what we saw in isolated periods last season.

We played absolutely terrible football last season. Just because you can name some matches where we scored many goals, it doesn't change that.

The same could be said about the PSG, Leicester and Southampton games this season (possibly Burnley too - we showed resilience but it was far from champaign football). The sample size is not big enough to compare to last season but the point still stands. For every Basle this season there was Olympiacos (away) last season.

I can kind of see both sides of this argument. I agree with Jazz, we have to enjoy it while it lasts but I also think General has a point that the sample size is small. The Chelsea game is a real standout though, I can't remember us bossing a big team like that since Liverpool in 2013 (better football at the time than 2008 too, just didn't last long).

It's not about individual games or performances, those fluctuate at the best of times.

It's about the general brand of football. On the whole we're combining a much quicker, counter attacking brand of football with our usual passing style which has lead to a far more aesthetically pleasing result (at least to me). You said it yourself, playing 3 quick players up top has transformed our style.

I'm thinking this season's been first rate so far, enjoying winning, enjoying battering a few teams, enjoying Theo's resurrection, enjoying the new look attack, enjoying watching games without reading the rolling script of angst on here 🙂
So much enjoy.

Not sure we're in full blown Wengerball territory yet, hopefully that's where we're headed though.
Players look like they're up to it.

I'm pretty sure dec15 after we beat Man City at home was the peak in terms of morale on here.

Swansea at home last season was the complete opposite. Shows we are very, very fickle.

It's not Giroud, you could play a mobile player like Welbeck up front and we would still struggle to score. Sanchez is just a quality player, and the team seems to believe in him to be a game changer as a CF, generally that lifts the team up before a game.
