Iwobi is a bit young for that yet but he should be the perfect Ozil replacement by the time the German leaves.

The one main factor I love about Iwobi is his ability to draw players into himself with his dribbling and then leave them for dead to create space for others. He is also extremely intelligent to get into good goalscoring positions, a benefit honed from his striking days in the u21s.

He's a bit like Hleb in the dribbling aspect, but with better finishing and better movement into the final 3rd.

If we had a proper front 4 which wouldn't need major help from the rest of the team, then I think Coquelin would be rated much higher by people. Now as at least 1, 2 or sometimes even 3 fielded front players lack in goal-scoring aspect, our central midfielders are basically asked to be 13/14 Ramseys who must do everything on WC level. And then people start saying that Coquelin is limited when he doesn't score or consistently make killer passes when it shouldn't even be his job to do that.

i hope we dead this #10 stuff after ozil leaves. i would actually prefer a proper central midfield and a player like iwobi playing wide like a pires instead of being our new #10.

This is the Wenger way. Remember he used to tell Song he was a box to box player too.

he was making a statement today i think. his energy was reminiscent of his great form in the 14/15 season.

He is underrated, very much so. Even on this forum.

It's always been obvious what he brings to the team/midfield. Both the tangibles and intangibles.

And he continues to improve.

If we win anything this season he will be as crucial on the defensive side as the likes of Ozil are on the offensive side.

He had an incredible game.

I think we should be cautious about making too much out of smashing Ludogrets van zis (who only a year ago was a poster on this forum and now has his own CL team), whether it's Özil's or Coquelin's performance we're talking about, but those were Kante energy levels we saw tonight. It's hard not to love the bloke when he runs like he's stolen the extra lung that we were planning to donate to Joel Campbell.

Xhaka will find it very very tough to push Coquelin out of the team.
