The notion that we should loan out players of undoubted quality like Wilshere is ridiculous IMO, and especially so when everyone and his dog know how ridden with injuries we always are at one point or another every season. It shouldn't matter one iota either what Wilshere wants here. Having said that, Wenger does listen way too much to his players, and he certainly doesn't always act in the best interest of the club over the best interest of the player.
This is a naive analysis I'm afraid Rex.
There's the speculative value of having Wilshere to come off the bench (if he can get fit, and match fit) for a little while this season. Sure, it's not nothing, but it's a slender value. We are well sorted for midfielders, we have a more than decent first and second rank without Wilshere being called upon.
You're weighing that value against the possibility of solving our "Wilshere problem" for years to come either by getting him, through a process of learning and adaptation, to a place where he can play 30+ matches a season, or letting him figure out a way to get us a healthy fee.
He's never really been better than 2011, and that was five fucking years ago. Come on now, wake up.
