I have sympathy for his injuries but we should have sold him last year to City.

I think it is in both his and the club's interest that he goes on loan.
He struggles to keep the weight off when not playing regularly so, for this reason, i don't think going to a top club where he will be relegated to the bench is helpful. The man needs to get his body to play upwards of 30 full games a season and that will only happen at a lower level of football where his superiority over his teammates guarantees his place in the team.
If he gets these games under his belt, fitness is automatic and if he continues to break down the club will realise he is a lost cause.

Until it is proven conclusively that we can navigate a full season without turning over a significant amount of players onto the injury table, loaning out midfield options makes absolutely no sense. And historically this is where we pick up the most injuries.

I think there's arguments to both sides but it's pretty clear Wilshere's stagnated badly. We need to try something different to kick start his career again.

We have started the season with 5 healthy and competent central midfielders for two places. I cannot recall that happening at any point. Last we started with Ramsey, Coquelin, Cazorla and Flamini, and had a half-fit Rosicky, Arteta and Wilshere to help out. This season we have healthy Coq, Elneny, Cazorla and Xhaka with Ramsey to return soon. It's a completely different situation to last season. Wilshere is surplus to requirements for now.

I'm very excited about this loan. Burnwinter said something compelling: put him in a team where he can have a consistent guaranteed starting spot, not garbage time minutes at CAM, DAM or winger as required, which will be the case at Arsenal. The boy needs to play himself back into form, and he won't do it with garbage time minutes.

In fairness even without Jack we have 5 centre mids, all of whom are contenders for a starting spot, for 2 positions. Keeping him would probably be one of those short term gains and a long term loss. Loan him out, fingers crossed he has an injury free year and gets back to his best and then he can come back and take over from Santi next season.

I'd definitely loan him out to Spain or something ideally though, somewhere less physically demanding. Also get him out of the mentality that he needs to thunder into tackles.

Going to West Ham for 6 months IF he's forcing a loan would be beneficial, he'll play most games+he'll stay in London which is what he'd logically prefer.

Otherwise, keep him and ease him back into the side/play him once per week until he's back to his best.

Personally I'd like to see Wilshere get a few more minutes at right wing - if he doesn't go out on loan.

At some point last season, only Ramsey and Flamini were fit and we paid a heavy price.

Our injury situation should never be underestimated. We've had total wipeouts and this is what gives the fringe players the chance to prove themselves. Sooner or later, Wilshere is going to see a lot of football. Maybe the club would be smart enough to insert a recall clause because we are going to need it. I have a feeling this has more to do with his chaotic personal life than just football and Wenger probably wants to get him out of London.

We didn't have Elneny or Xhaka back then though. Even if you assume Xhaka was broken like Arteta was last season that still would leave us with a Ramsey-Elneny pairing during an injury crisis.

I think this is to do with him not getting in the England team, I see no other reason why he'd suddenly feel that sense of urgency to play games.

Yeah, it has hit him hard but then not like he made a case at the Euros.

For me, a fully fit Jack starts over Elneny and Coquelin, but a 100% Wilshere seems to be a myth. Still loathe to losing him for another season.

I take your point but half the reason our injury problems tend to get out of hand is because we rely on injury prone players to offer depth - like Rosicky, Diaby and Wilshere - who are never around we need them anyway.

As I said the evidence is strongly stacked against us. None of our CMs has lasted a full season without picking up injuries and the jury is still out on Elneny and Xhaka. Wenger is yet to prove that he can see out a full season without presiding over an injury crisis.

If wilshere goes, it would be only Ramsey left with any injury history of note.
