Someone (Clrnc, I think) answered the question for me once, that 12 out of 23 PL winning teams had a 20+ goal scoring striker.

Just adding some information.

I seen a thing on sky sports news at the weekend where every team who's won it in the last 4 years had a 20 goal man. Not all were strikers though. Probably applies to a lot of those years, think of when Ronaldo was winning the title for United or Lampards biggest seasons etc

Upgraded Wenger to a 7. We got two top drawer guys in midfield and defense. Neither is a superstar, but they come in and absolutely lift the quality of first eleven.
Also props for getting Wilshere and Chambers teams where they can have the space and time to develop

8 or more demanded a galacticos forward.

I think this summer is just about satisfactory for me. Those that needed to go out on loan has gone, positions that needed strengthening is done. Solid players all round, nothing really really special. 6/10

Final verdict would be around 4/10 for me. Huge improvement from last year's 1/10; still not quite where we need to be in terms of the quality we've brought in. Loaning out Jack knocks off a point too.

I think there are too many unknowns surrounding a number of our signings. During the best of circumstances you'd expect roughly one in three to not quite make it all the way for whatever reason. The more gambles you make the more likely that number is to increase. This reminds me a bit of the window where we ended up buying Arteta, Mertesacker, Gervinho and Chambo. Good players with plenty of value for the money, but you feel that we should be making signings of a higher calibre right now. I have some sympathy for the state of the market, but no one said it was an easy job to be in charge of a top club.

It's good in that we've finally balanced out our squad. It's not perfect in that we've always needed that top tier striking talent.

I would say 6/10. At least we tried this time. Needed a truly world class attacking player though.

I'd say that's spot on. For an Arsene summer it's better than usual but compared to what we should be doing g taking into consideration recent windows, our squad and our rivals we just aren't doing enough.

Anything below 7/10 is treason. We've had a fantastic window.

Mustafi, Xhaka and Perez is as good as it gets in this window. Find me better players at reasonable prices, it's not possible. Holding looks like a gem as well.

Should've signed another attacker up front or wide but in reality we're stocked in those positions.

8/10 for me.

I voted for a good window.

We strengthened our spine with two quality players. We are now well stocked in those two positions.

We brought in a very talented young defender who could be a £30million player in a few years.

We signed a forward, who is a bit of a wildcard, but has experience in a top league, and has the qualities we've been crying out for.

A top class centre forward was still needed, and that stops this from being a perfect window, but the fact that we did nearly everything (and before deadline day) is a good thing. Slight negative that we weren't prepared for the first game of the season though.

We should be challenging for the title with this lot. We probably won't because the manager isn't good enough.

I voted satisfactory... All depends on how Perez is going to turn out.

Good but unspectacular. The timing could have been a lot better but it did seem like, clearly with Perez undoubtedly, we were pursuing other targets first. Unlikely to take us to where we want to be especially considering the strengthening and improvements in our rivals, but at the same time I don't think we could have done a whole lot more in terms of marquee signings. I struggle to see who moved that would seriously have upgraded us where we really needed it. Whether we could have forced the issue with players who didn't move is another question.

How about Ibrahimovic? He's on offensive wages, but he was free and looking for the best possible offer. He wouldn't have cost more per year than we've already spent on, say, Gabriel if you factor in transfer fees and wages.

Untrue. Ibrahamovic's cost in wages (say 11m) per annum is nearly 3 times more than Gabriel's transfer (say 10m) and wage (say 3.5m) per annum.

Can't necessarily compare a dud squad player to Ibrahamovic and claim money would be better spent there. Every premier league club could perform a similar analysis, if they wanted to.

I didn't mean per annum, I meant money we've spent on him. Zlatan is on £16 million according to the numbers I can find. Gabriel cost £11.2 million and he's assumed to be on £50K per week. That's £3.6 million in 18 months. So just less than £15m in total then. Granted it's a bit of a pointless comparison player vs player, but in terms of resources and how we spend them I'd take a year of Zlatan over 18 months of Gabriel any day.

And Gabriel wasn't even a bad gamble; he was fairly cheap and had growth potential. But it amazes me how that sort of transfer is part and parcel of our philosophy while paying exorbitant wages for proven top class isn't. We could have easily afforded it in the short term for someone of Ibrahimovic's quality.

I know, but that's not how the club would monitor their spending anyway.
