How do you rate this summers transfer dealings?

One thing i wish we had done was gone for a young emerging striker like Milik. Asano is good, but someone more obvious would have been nice

Got a very good feeling on Mustafi and Xhaka; I reckon they're going to be up there with the best in their positions over the next few seasons. Think they're both severely underrated signings by both our fans and pundits at the moment.

Holding also looks a big talent. The way he's taken to the Premier League, after taking to the Championship in the manner he did last season, in difficult circumstances, only the good ones do that.

Asano looked really good at the Olympics but the level was dire, so I'll reserve judgement there until I see what he can produce in Germany. But he looks promising and the sort of striker I want us to sign; the antithesis of Giroud and Sanogo. Not that Giroud is a bad player mind, just a striker without any pace is never for me - Asano seems to have it in spades.

Perez, I have no idea about. He looks good in the YouTube videos, and I'm encouraged by a few knowledgeable posters on here rating him, looks a bargain in this market too, but I get the feeling there's at least a reasonable chance he flops here. I'll be shocked if he displaces Giroud any time soon, but well see.

All in all, I'd give the club 8/10 for their summer dealings. I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get in someone special to come in and play as our Number 9, but I accept that's not all on Arsenal because there are very few of them out there and at least they tried with Vardy and actually got in Perez.

Still hope we have something special we're working on before deadline day, but it's good we've done what was needed with time to spare.

I'd agree with most of that Ricky, but I reckon I'd go with a 6.5 rating due to the fact that we haven't signed a world class forward, whuch is something we desperately needed.

I half agree but midfield and centreback have been our second and third priorities for a while now as well. The last time we had a world class striker, we struggled because our midfield and defence weren't up to scratch

While it should always be a priority to sign a top striker, I think we've made a reasonable effort this summer to sign someone up front - which is all we can really ask for - and it's not panned out. Despite that we didn't just cave and walk away feeling sorry for ourselves. Instead we went and addressed whatever could be addressed. If, through some miracle we signed Lewandowski next season, I guarantee that you'll be pretty pleased we signed Xhaka and Mustafi the year before. Just like how I'm glad we signed Cech last summer even though the transfer window itself was underwhelming at the time. It's unfair to view signings in the context of only the next 12 months

I think between Perez, Giroud and Sanchez we got it covered, whereas I have zero faith in Chamberlain and Iwobi is young and going to be inconsistent.

All about context. We could get away with Giroud and Perez up front if Ramsey and Walcott step up with the goals. Chelsea got 95 points in 2005 and their main striker (drogba) got 10 league goals.

All about context. We could get away with Giroud and Perez up front if Ramsey and Walcott step up with the goals. Chelsea got 95 points in 2005 and their main striker (drogba) got 10 league goals.

But how many did Lampard get? We would need a lot of them xtra goals from around the team to make up for strikers only scoring 15 goals or so.

Had this same transfer business been conducted prior to the start of the season, I would have considered it to be a good window, but with 3 games already gone and 5 points behind league leaders, it just about satisfactory. We've now got to hope that the two new signings who look good on paper can contribute almost straight away as they are needed in key positions. Expect only some loans out of the club between now and the end of the window.

Someone (Clrnc, I think) answered the question for me once, that 12 out of 23 PL winning teams had a 20+ goal scoring striker.

Sanchez can comfortably match that.

It's about the overall haul. Ideally we'd have one guy to bank on for 20+, but the team target is doable if a couple of the other lads hit their stride together and add an extra 4-5 goals each.

Just adding some information.

I seen a thing on sky sports news at the weekend where every team who's won it in the last 4 years had a 20 goal man. Not all were strikers though. Probably applies to a lot of those years, think of when Ronaldo was winning the title for United or Lampards biggest seasons etc

Upgraded Wenger to a 7. We got two top drawer guys in midfield and defense. Neither is a superstar, but they come in and absolutely lift the quality of first eleven.
Also props for getting Wilshere and Chambers teams where they can have the space and time to develop

8 or more demanded a galacticos forward.
