How do you rate this summers transfer dealings?

I think Perez is our most interesting signing by far, actually. I don't really care about Xhaka right now - from the little I've seen he's well off the pace in England - and while Mustafi is a very welcome addition I don't think he's going to have a hugh effect on the upper limit of the defence.

We needed something big to raise our game, not just a number of smaller signings to raise the bottom level. If Perez gels with the attack he could maybe give us that. Big gamble though, but Wenger used to get these right in the past even if his track record has been spotty in the last 5-6 seasons.

im not over the moon with perez, because i dont see him dislodging giroud any time soon. i really wanted someone who was guaranteed put olly on the bench

i wasnt just speaking about this window. in the last 4 or 5 windows i think we couldve found someone capable of benching him for good. struggling for 4 years and then signing a guy who may end up being a back-up striker or playing wide is anti-climactic. its not a bad buy, it just ranks the lowest of the 3 major buys in terms of how much i see it improving the first 11

We've bought a great CB to partner Kos. We haven't had a better pair on paper for the last ten years.

We've replaced Flamini with Xhaka and moved Coquelin behind in the pecking order. That's pretty awesome and the way we should replace deadwood.

My problem with Giroud has never been his quality, but how he plays when he's tired. He won't be now. To make the summer an 9/10 the striker would need to be WC. 10/10 would mean buying a winger.

You know what, I'm always annoyed by the way we operate as we always end up paying out the cash we sa ed years ago on good players being sold on players who are markedly worse due to transfer inflation. So no I don't think Perez, xhaka, mustafi, holding is good enough at the amount we are outlaying. If we are going to do something to push on we need to get serious top talent but now that is out of our grasps so we will end up wasting it on good but not great players.

These guys won't win us the league but will keep us close enough in touch to think what if.

You can't seriously lump mertesacker in with those other two.

Not that satisfied overall. Too many question marks over each addition. Concerns that Mustafi won't be able to handle the physicality of our league.

Xhaka needs to adapt to the pace of the league and his passing can be too erratic

Lucas looks like he could be a great pick up though.

Think we'll see Xhaka become one of our most important players this season. To the contrary of some of the opinions above he's displayed exactly the attributes we'll come to depend on him for.

This window is barely satisfactory, considering that we have loads of cash saved from the previous summer. Still need something exciting for the front three: not necessarily a top level CF, but at least an elite youngster (e.g. Barbosa or Jesus).

Those two have signed for Inter and Chelsea respectively, no? Either way, I don't think we need any more developing youngsters in our squad, because we already have quite a few of them.

We have cash, loads of it, and can spend if needed on a star, but who? None is available.

Also lol at Barbosa and Jesus, they aren't even better than the likes of Oxlade. Gnabry outperformed both at the Olympics.

Players ingoing-wise we've done as good as we can do. We left it late, that's the only downside. This window is definitely good, excellent if Perez was world class.

Jesus signed for City and was loaned back until January.

Also, we do have loads of cash left over, but we do not need any more signings on the level of Xhaka and Mustafi now. Just genuine world class players like Özil or Alexis.

Disappointed at the moment with just Holding and Xhaka. If Mustafi and Perez do sign then I guess it's satisfactory since it appears all positions of weakness have been address and it would be more than I expected. Remains to be seen how well they adapt.

He's a cut above them, but ive wanted to upgrade him for a while

If Mustafi can be better than Mertesacker immediately he'll have been a truly great signing.

Hard to say how satisfactory the summer is until we see how Perez and Mustafi settle. Big question marks over all our signings.

Yeah but when you buy a guy from a shitty spanish side who's had one good season it means there are more questions to be answered than if you signed someone like Lewandowski for instance.
