To clarify when I say 'top class' I don't mean Verrati, I actually mean someone with a similar profile to Xhaka. Goretzka for example. I completely agree on signing players that will fit a specific system or style, all I meant was that I'm not so concerned what system or style it is.
Personally I don't think we need a DM as such in this formation, just players with a bit of intelligence. If you look at our performances against the big sides over the last few months, we've played a combined 6 games against City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool and have won 4 and drew 1 and have put in a solid, compact performance in each of those 5 games without a DM.
The issue with Ramsey-Xhaka is a lack of consistency both in terms of performance and shape. Xhaka also has some fundamental weaknesses to his game that suggest he may never be a top midfielder that will allow us to boss the midfield.
