Yeah I have to say it seems a little backwards to me. He needs to be proving his commitment to us not the other way around. The guy is said to be distraught at not getting a move where he would be actively working against us, no chance I'd sing his name unless he does something to earn it back over the course of the season, and it needs to be special.

We don't really have a choice - we have Alexis for a season and we need to do what we can to get the best out of him. Unlike with Wenger, where you know that nothing you can do short of ejecting him from the club will even start to improve the situation, if there is still hope that supporting Alexis can get him to play well, I'm ok to do that.

You think Alexis won't care that the manager and team gets booed as long as he gets cheered himself?
That the general malevolent atmosphere won't have an impact on him?

I know it's an out there suggestion but how about nobody gets booed unless the result and performance are horrendous?
Personally I've never been to a game where I booed a team I support or individuals, or booed a manager either.

If he isn't going to give 100% unless the fans suck up to him the he can get fucked. He should be thinking of how the get the fans back onside, not the other way around.

I remember the pre-season Nasri was set to leave he was getting shit loads of abuse, which I'm not advocating personally but it is what it is. He subsequently put in one of the most committed performances I've ever seen from him just before he left that actually won some fans over who were chanting his name by the end. That's how it should be.

The inferiority complex among Arsenal fans these days is amazing. Celebrate the wankers who piss on the club and give shit loads of abuse to the ones who are here.

He doesn't have commitment. He has however behaved in a reasonable professional manner in regards to his contract, etc while Wenger has said he wont sell, then did try to sell, etc If we are to do any better than 6th this season we will need Alexis firing on all cylinders.

Everyone has commitment to themself, he's in the final year of his contract and we've seen players like gallas and theo instantly go up a gear in those situations. As soon as Ox started talking about leaving he suddenly got serious on the pitch and looked twice as good. Nasri was the same played the best football of his career to get the move he wanted(even tho he had a year left like ox). Ozil and sanchez are in that position now. They don't have to show desire for arsenal they just have to show the desire nessesary to get the move they want next.

He can be committed as long as he's here, and I think he'll show more focus and commitment this season than last, but we will see. Either way, I don't think he should get special treatment until he earns it.

Incidentally he seems to be on a PR drive to highlight that his head is back in the game.

Course he shouldn't get special treatment (positive or negative) - it's such a toady thing to suggest that he should be heralded and cajoled.
He was rubbish v Liverpool and previous to that he didn't want to play - this notion that he's been exemplary is slightly off the mark.

Hmmm. Apparently there were some boos, wasn't picked up on TV so can't have been too many

Sanchez came on for Welbeck in the second half and was met with a scattering of boos from the Emirates crowd after making it clear he wanted to leave Arsenal this summer.

A majority of the crowd serenaded him, however, and Wenger insisted that the boos had not affected the forward.

"We have to accept responses from people. I don't know why [people booed]. But the best way to get people on your side is to perform," Wenger said. "I had a chat with him after the game, he didn't look unhappy. Maybe [he was unhappy] because he wanted to score. The interpretation of the attitude is always very dangerous."

I heard them too. It felt like 20-30 per cent boos. He will win back folks with hard work. It's normal that fans should boo after his attempts to leave at the end of the summer. And once the papers start writing rumors of his departure again in November, expect more unrest. We basically have about two months to get things right with Sanchez

It's not unecxpected, Qs. And I really don't blame them. I don't go to the stadium. This forum right here with you lot is where I vent. We don't have 60,000 people here. We have 600 people here and some of the things that are said about Sanchez, Wenger and the like make my eyes pop. So it is not surprising that people will boo and hurl insults. Seems in the normal spectrum of human reaction.

As for how he will he will handle it. He is a guy who just came back from Chile where he has had to react with a tweet following scathing criticism of his and La Roja's underwhelming performances in World Cup qualifying. So this is not novel to him.

It's not novel to him, doesn't make him immune to it. Players are human too. Be it Ozil, Sanchez, Ramsey, Bellerin, Welbeck etc

Not saying its acceptable or not - people have their breaking points and will vent however they see fit. I feel The Wenger hate is trickling down to individual players. A big part of a manager's role is shielding players from criticism and Wenger has lost the moral high ground and can't provide that shield anymore.
