I was pretty happy initially that we showed backbone for once, then they accepted some peanuts 55m from City on deadline day. Jokers. Leopard never changes its spots.

You can understand him going back on that if City came in with a huge offer and it was all part of a bluff, but 55m? Was basically the first offer City made 😆
This isn't aimed directly at either of you, but I think Neymar's transfer is skewing our collective perspective on transfer fees. £55m for a player in the last year of his contract is by no means 'peanuts' and I think comments about anything less than £70m (or whatever the flavour of the day was) not being considered are preposterous. Who has paid more for a player who isn't in the top bracket with one year left? Fees have inflated in the last couple of years but not to that extent.
The prices PSG are paying aren't the norm, and aren't something that's sustainable for the vast majority of clubs. Barca got rinsed because Dortmund knew they were under pressure to make a statement signing and splash some of the Neymar cash. No other club in normal circumstances would have bought Dembele for that amount.
I don't disagree with the attempts to cash in on Sanchez and bring in Lemar, though I do question the execution and timing but that's another issue.
