IMO it has SFA to do with his market value, and absolutely everything to do with the potential domino effect of his departure in regards to the other players in the same position, and then in regards to potential sponsorship and marketing deals.
We are not just talking about Sanchez leaving for free at the end of the season - NONE of our half dozen players in their last season have signed as yet.
We may be able to ride out losing Sanchez for free, but what about if he becomes the tip of the iceberg and we lose another 3 or more? What if we simply lose all 3 of Sanchez, Ozil and Ox - what are the impacts then?

I couldn't disagree more. Yes he does lose the ball quite a lot, but it's mostly because he is trying too hard to make things happen single handedly as his teammates are often putting in sub par performances/ effort.

Agree with this = stats v context.
I'd even say that his losing possession has cost us both goals and points - particularly when he drops deep behind the attack and loses possession in the middle 3rd, but even then I'd still point the finger at the players static ahead of the ball lined up across the opposition area waiting for a pass to feet.

Well that's something that can be ameliorated with coaching/tactical adaptation to help him play to his strengths. His flaws aren't as evident when he plays with Chile for instance.

Not at all, and neither does it excuse the rest of the players or justify any finger pointing.
If Sanchez was to lose possession as a result of ignoring options and/or he lacked end product then it would be inexcusable.

Sanchez's slack passing loses us possession as much if not more than anyone else on the team. Granted he does lose possession trying to make things happen, but it's not always through trying something creative. The weight and direction of his passing can be downright awful at times.

Agreed - but that also means there are 2 issues = losing possession as a result of high risk play via poor passing,
and losing possession being caught on the ball when he has no passing options. It's the latter that has usually been more costly in terms of goals and points because of where it happens behind the players, whereas the former tends to happen more in the final 3rd around the opposition area.

Sanchez is our best player even with his ball losingnissues, everything else in his game on and off the ball goes beyond that which anyone else offers this team. Talk of anything else is frankly stupid and I won't listen to talk of how you can highlight one issue with his game and ignore the massive series of flaws in every one of the rest of our so called top players.

We will lose him next year for sure to a team that will go further, all the others have risen to their top level here and will never go any further at club level.

Exactly. He has been well and truly shown up since his move from RM. Cristiano continues to bang them in, Ozil or no Ozil, while our guy is MIA whenever needed.

Sanchez is pretty much invaluable. Yes he does lose the ball cheaply quite a lot but his return of goals and assists is Henry-level. And scoring goals is a lot harder than what Ozil does.
