It's in the interests of the agents to put out a figure a lot higher than what's being paid in reality for various reasons. I don't think the clubs themselves will ever disclose it.

Well we can't say for sure how much he's on, but to me it's not logical for wages to remain relatively low at a time when transfer fees are spiralling out of control. Why would any player renew his contract ? ? You could earn far more by just running down your contract. Therefore I expect wages to rise too
It's not really relatively low though. Sanchez is worth what, £70m odd in the current market? If we paid him 275k over 5 years that's £72m over the course of his contract. It marries up quite nicely, he's not exactly being done over. They won't run down their deals for the same reason they haven't all this time, security. They might start running it down for different reasons, i.e. because cash rich clubs will now be much more reluctant to sell their best players.
In a world where Dembele, Coutinho etc are worth 100m, no way will 72m buy you an Alexis.
It becomes a risk worth taking if wages don't follow the crazy patterns of transfer fees, there has been loads of players who have made a career out of bosman transfers (Flamini being a prime example). If Alexis goes on a free next summer I'm pretty sure clubs would be willing to match his 400k demand simply because his total wages over 4 years can't even buy you a player of his calibre in today's market. Isn't Ibra for example on 370k?
And on our part, we'll have to spend more in transfer fees alone than his total wages combined to bring in a player of similar quality (mind you, willingness to spend such vast amounts on new signing is no guarantee that clubs would sell as Liverpool and Barca are discovering this season).
