If it really is all about the salary surely it would be worth just paying Sanchez a huge signing on fee and higher wages a week rather than lose him for nothing in a year or below market value this year.

The board most likely don't want to set a precedent for what they consider exorbitant wages within the squad, ie they expect Özil and others to up their demands after Alexis gets his 300k or whatever. I bet Wenger and them pride themselves on not paying excessive wages all the while cashing cheques close to a fucking million every month

According to a few reports Wenger said this morning in Sydney he expects Sanchez to honour his contract, and who knows, it might not even be his last year here at the club.

Who knows what to make of it all really. Could be genuine, could be a way of upping his price.

It hurts, but I would generally prefer to allow wantaway players to leave if the price is right.

Can't stand sulkers and if Sanchez is forced to stay, he'll probably lose our affection.

Wenger said he won't sell to a rival, confirmed Alexis has not yet asked to leave and pretty much said he's staying. May sign a new deal, didn't sound very confident on that though. Said players are easy to manage in the last year of their contracts.

These same words/ lines have been spoken before. Given our situation was different then but it definitely seems as if there is no chance of Sanchez signing a new contract before the season begins or transfer window closes.

Funnily there has been little on Ozil, as if no one cares if he stays or goes.

Maybe Wenger felt down the front of his pants and remembered his member. This is good. I don't care what happens next season. I just want to guarantee that we are i the best shape possible to face this upcoming season. I want to look at the Arsenal team and, for once, feel we are going to make a serious title push. Sanchez is key to that good feeling

I was thinking maybe no one wants him but then the other possibility occurred to me. Maybe he's just doing his business in quiet and his agents not using the press as leverage. There were no rumours about him coming here until the deal was pretty much done. Maybe him and his agent are just a bit more professional.

Yep. Most stories are houseboat anyway so if his agent wanted to create stories despite a lack of interest he'd be able to.

Surely we have made our offer to Sanchez crystal clear by now, so if he hasn't signed on by now that surely it's a matter of where and when he's going, not if.
The lack of any noise on Ozil is weird though. Don't really know what to make of that.
