This discussion is easy for Sanchez. You tell him he can go to any club that will pay him £400k a week and sign him from us for a figure in line with that kind of wage, e.g. £80m. If someone comes with those two numbers in the next two weeks, tell him he can go. After that, he must see out his contract.

That solve his situation for this season. But after that he's in a strong position because in January, he can set up an auction between PSG and Bayern for his services next season. But i would rather see that ensue than sell him to Pep this summer. We. Just need to show that we won't be bullied

Sanchez isn't the sulking type so I wouldn't worry about holding him for a year and letting him leave on a free. He will still give his best. Also, he'll be almost 30 when the season is done anyway. Assuming he has three good seasons in him after that most we won't be losing too much. The wage he'll demand can be offset by a big bid for someone like Dembele on a massive fee and half the wages in the same period. Assuming we pay Sanchez £350k a week on a four year contract. That is £72.8m without factoring in a sign on bonus so let's say with that taken into account we land on £80m over four season for Sanchez. At the end of this he will 33 and worth £15 million if we're lucky. That's £65m invested in him with no direct monetary return (ignoring success and merchandising). Now if we sign Dembele for £100m and pay him £150k a week that £131m sunk into him with either 7 or 8 of his prime years still ahead of him or a £150m fee receivable on a sale. Success and merchandising evens itself out over the same period. So financially it might be wiser for us to let Sanchez run his contract down and then invest big on a Dembele, Mbappe type player next season.

I think we have all seen this movie before, and it ends with Wenger selling to our rivals because he could not resist cashing in rather than losing the player on a free.

You never know with El Mercurio, they have zero journalistic integrity. They are technically the largest media outlet in the country and so they do have a lot of exclusives, but they are famous for lying about anything and everything. So far they have claimed he is going to Chelsea, then Bayern, then City, then staying, now City again.

It's so bad that the expression "El Mercurio miente" ("El Mercurio lies") even has its own Wikipedia entry:

I think it's very obvious that Alexis is absolutely not happy with us having missed out on the Champions League, which means that everyone is paying attention and any article about his future gets lots of clicks.

It's an article by Sammers who makes stuff up. Last sunday he wrote Lacazette won't sign as he wanted to go to Atletico 😆 .

80m is peanuts for Alexis. If Lukaku is worth 100m, anything less than 120m is a no-go.
