So if he's after 300-400k per week, spread over say 4 years, that's around 60-80m. If a "reasonable wage is around 200k per week, or a bit more for him, that's a 30 to 40m signing on bonus - essentially he's asking to be paid the transfer fee. Or maybe half the transfer fee.

He's in a decent position.

Ozil however doesn't seem to have too many options besides us.

that was posted in january. i dont know if its accurate. id guess its not 100% accurate because the figures aren't public and we wont know for sure. that link says alexis is currently on £140k per week.

he has ZERO right to think he should be making £350k+ a week.

ibra and pogba are on £280,000 a week.

if we offered sanchez £280,000 a week, he'd be the joint top earner in the premier league. i dont think its unreasonable for us to pause if he wants £300k or more. i mean, sure, pay him, its not my money and fuck kroenke, but still, crazy.

if we sign another quality player, like, a top quality player, and we offer to double sanchez and ozil's wages, if they still decide they want to leave, then fuck him. hes been immense for us, and i'll miss him, but the club should not be held hostage by any one player. that said, i'd take £30m from bayern for him before taking £50m from man citeh. if he has his mind made up and will only play for citeh, then id keep him. would suck to let him go for free, but we have to draw a line in the sand at some point.

This sounds like the club trying to soften the blow for when he is sold to City:

Yep, true. I think it's much more likely he wants to go and play with Pep and he thinks he's got a better chance of winning stuff there. And he's saying to us if you want to keep me you have to pay me a big wage and effectively a signing on fee again.

Which I wouldn't mind doing - effectively paying a 30-40M transfer fee for him is straightforward to my mind even though he is 29. Get him on a 3 - 4 yr contract for that price and sign Amine Harit as backup to take over after that.

Don't get why he'd want to go play for a guy who looks unlikely to win anything next year, didn't like him much at barca, and doesn't really have a clear role for him now. Gotta be about money alone.

I don't get it from City's perspective to be honest. You've got Aguero and Jesus up top, Silva, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling and Sane behind. In the mean time they still have a shit central midfield and defence and need fullbacks. So what do you do? Spend what will probably be around £70m and at least 300k on another forward.

Don't get Alexis and Pep as a pair either, was probably the worst period of Sanchez's career performance wise and Pep isn't a big fan of players who lack patience when attacking.

It says that unless Man City come back with a stronger offer, Alexis has decided to stay and respect his contract.

Allegedly we are raising his wages to match Ozil's GBP300k/week.

P.S. That this article was in the process of being written is probably how the other twitter personality with media connections got his insight.

Same as before:

It says we have already increased his wages and that he is unlikely to move - though there is no mention of a new contract.

a) do people really think he is demanding 400k p/w?
b) if so.. does he think he is by a country mile the best player in the world? (thats what getting paid that much would seemingly make one think - at least outside of China)
c) isnt it just possible that the club and he came up with this leak so we could sell him without fans getting really pissed off at the club for NOT giving him that much crazy money?

just rambling.... if i were the club, i would make him see out his last year on his contract... let him go after that.. his body very well may be broken by then since he's been playing nonstop for like 5 years now..

Not that I belive for a second Sanchez is asking for 400k a week, but Lionel Messi has just signed a new contract at 500k a week.

No idea in all honesty. Also have to factor in that before tax Messi earns 500k and after tax Messi earns 500k!
