The mess Wenger has managed to make here is pretty insane. Can't say that no one saw it coming either after years of underinvestment.

Once you start signing players of a certain class you need to keep it up, otherwise the whole thing will crumble. You can't sign Özils and Alexises and then have them play with Coquelin and Carl Jenkinson. We've behaved like Liverpool or Spurs these last few years.

Ramsey is the only one i can think of where we outbid another club.

Don't think we outbid for Ramsey. Wasn't the story that offers were accepted from United and us, and Wenger flew him and his family out to meet him personally at the Euros and went through his whole plan for him while Ferguson just sent Gary Neville to show him around the training ground. Just another in a long line who have fallen hook, line and sinker for Wenger's ideals.

Ramsey is the only one i can think of where we outbid another club.

This is a club in decline and no one in it seems to want to step up and sort out the mess.

This! Our player recruitment has been nothing short of nuts. Ozil and Sanchez should've been followed by Vidals and Dybalas to build a superior squad. Instead we settled for Top 4. You can just tell our real (lack of) ambition by our actions at every step of the season. You can't blame every single player for wanting for leave. All wenger has done with Ozil and Sanchez is replace Fabregas and Van Persie respectively, and fail to build the star depth.

That's been our way of doing it for a while now. One or two top players that do enough to get us to the prize each year until they realise that there's no interest from the club in pushing on and leave. We'll flounder without them as the overall level of the remainder isn't high enough and Wenger doesn't have the ability to patch things up with tactics, motivation, etc.

This is supposed to be the fruition of the Youth Project mk2 - The British Core.
Difference this time is that AW didn't make any promises about either winning anything or it being his fault if they didn't.

The plan is supposed to be internal development supplemented by transfers in to provide what we miss in terms of positions/roles, and the bargain opportunities as the become available.

The message has been clear ever since PV4 started to get interested in moving to Juve around 2003-04 = about the same time Abramovich started spending art CFC & AW &PHW said the market wouldn't sustain the inflated prices & our policy would be to wait it out.
At the time PV said that the club needed to make signings to keep the squad fresh & to build momentum to keep moving forward & to stay competitive.

I have no inherent problems with of and wilshere leaving, neither look like too talents at the end of the day and they aren't exactly young up and coming players. Our failure with Sanchez and Ozil is a joke. Last summer and before was the time to get these guys sealed up with us finishing second, pay the money. Now we stand zero chance of keeping them and certainly zero chance of replacing Sanchez's quality.
