Ah yes, that's one I didn't think of. 6 months left and resigning around January. The longer it takes the less and less likely it is Mesut will sign.

Imagine Ozil signs his contract and then say "your turn", spins the contract around and the camera turns around and Aubameyang is sitting, ready to sign his contract.

I think Twitter would implode. The whole club would feel a boost.

Maybe.

Some of us still have higher aspirations than continuing the status quo though.

I seen this doing the rounds on twitter and Reddit. Modern Internet football fans outside of small communities like this are really annoying.

That camera will spin around to Johnny Evans and Welbeck

Mission Impossible style mask removal

Give Ozil what he wants really.

300k? 350k? Just agree, come on. We are so close to having a decent team for top 4 again.

Give him what he wants. Sign over the Emirates to him if need be.

😆

An immediate free transfer to a better team?

No.

A salary of £500,001 per week.

Give him as much money as he wants, just do it, but please don't make him the captain.

Oh FFS. He's gone, he's at United now so fuck him he can break a leg for all I care but just stop with the bullshit. No one would be accusing him of sabotage or claiming he was past it if he'd signed a new deal this week.

He was taking the piss in those games mate, and he refused to play for us early on too after the move to City fell through. He's mostly been absent or on the bench ever since the transfer window opened. I think he's been behaving like a horrid piece of work all season; his teammates seem to agree, and while I would have been willing to let it slide if he'd signed a new deal there's literally no reason to do him that courtesy now. He's just yet another unprofessional, petulant little shit. He's not the first and and he won't be the last.

The club are to blame for that. When they sanctioned his sale to Man City on deadline day before calling it off due to being unable to find his replacement, they created a monster in Sanchez. Had they kept their stance which was to not sell him under any circumstances till the very end, and not cave in on deadline day when Man City came calling, we may not have seen that much change in his behavior or the dip in performances.

Who sanctioned his sale?

No CL = 0% chance of re-signing Ozil.
CL = some chance. I believe that he likes it in London and at Arsenal, but he obviously wants to be in a team that befits his talent.

It's negligent that we're in this position of losing him on a free transfer, having destroyed 100m in resale value. It absolutely cannot happen again. There's always someone else you can buy as long as you have the money. Players come and go all the time. I don't understand the desperate attachment. It's not only incredibly bad business, it's also pathetic.

Losing Ozil is not that big of a deal. Mhikitaryan is a solid replacement, and we can move on from having to carry a 10. I think a more well-rounded midfielder who can put in a defensive shift (like Rosicky and Hleb did) might even help us. It's the financial loss that really hurts.

As long as he remains professional this season, I’m happy. Here’s a guy in the last season of his contract. We don’t hear rumors about other clubs talking to him. We don’t hear his agent talking about his demands. All we see is him elevating his game to some of the best levels we’ve ever seen. So on the one hand you are saddened that we are not guaranteed to see him next season, but on the other hand you are really pleased by his professionalism on and off the field thus far given the stakes

Ozil is consummate professional. Very savvy in how he conducts himself too, very respectful, no fuss. I get the feeling he's smarter than your average footballer.

The club looked for a similar professional response from Sanchez. I still don't agree with the approach but it has been fine with one player and not the other.

To be fair, Sanchez was also not using the press to engineer a move ala say, Adebayor. He was quite discrete about everything. In fact I remember him saying he was happy in London and was hoping to see out his contract with us.

I think the club handled the whole thing terribly, they kept on flip flopping on their stance, how would that not affect a player?? Worst of all, they encouraged a bid from the evil empire, who couldn't believe we were actually going to do a deal with them according to reports. When the fuck are we going to stop selling them our best players ???
