We are very weak at tapping up players (which is needed these days for top players) we need to get dirty a little.

Lets not. If we have £70m for one player that player absolutely has to be a CF.

The price of Morata looked like madness but given the way the market is I'd chuck the money at Real.

I'm sure there is some superstar they'd rather have. And we could get 10 years out of Morata.

Which superstar? I think the market is relatively constipated. One would've imagined significant movements with the new TV money, but it happened right after PSG, Madrid, Barca and Bayern corralled all the talent in the market. So the market is not as liquid as it once was. It's going to be hard for Real to find a star more exciting than Morata. Who are the viable names? Thus I think he stays at Real

It looked crazy money for him at the time but I reckon you could sell him on in 5 years for pretty much what you'd pay now. Same goes for Lukaku, Icardi, etc

Mustafi does NOT start for Valencia tonight.

What is AFCamden's say on this?

Isn't he the go to guy for all transfers?

Valencia concede 3 in the first half.

Mustafi comes on at half time.

buy a striker first, then go to valencia and see if they want to get punished by FFP or sell for a reasonable fee

The Valencia manager after the match "Mustafi is not for sale and will not be leaving the club".

It's nice and tidy to get all these threads locked. No point in pretending we are as big as Man U after all.

not sure why we even have individual player threads. there were some 60 player threads this year. Wenger gave you two first teamers (one just barely) and a J-League guy who will probably tour Europe for 3 or 4 years before being sold to Anderlecht. All we really need is one transfer rumours thread while Wenger is in charge.

No offence mate but this is fucking embarrassing to read.

Managers in Spain have no say anyway. Need someone a bit more heavy weight to say something.

Still think this will get done if we really want it to.

Valencia need the money to meet ffp as they are out of Europe. They don't have an owner who will fill the gap with equity and this looks like a santi cazorla situation.

Forget paying £30m+ for this guy.

Go and get one of Rugani/Romangoli/Manolas. Any of these three could become absolutely beastly.

Yeah, for that kind of money there are a lot of options at CB. The problem is Wenger isn't flexible or adaptable.

If we end up paying £30m for Mustafi while Chelsea go and purchase Romangnoli for a similar fee I will be livid.

Have to agree with John Cross on this one - I don't understand how we haven't secured this yet and seemingly, the longer we're taking, the higher the price goes up. There has to be a serious internal inquest if we don't get this one over the line now.

I am actually surprised John Cross is so critical on Wenger this summer given how much he supports him.

Cross doesn't support Wenger. He's a shit journalist too.

hes always defended wenger. he wrote a book about him or something, didnt he?

Regardless, I'm not expressing an opinion on his journalistic, simply agreeing with his point of view. Anyone actually disputing that?

just a quick comparison for mustafi with gimenez, who is being touted as one of the best CB prospects in europe, and then kos.

TBF Giminez is 21. Harsh to be comparing him to established players.

Arsenal's first offer for the Germany international came in at £15million, perhaps it's no surprise Valencia have become infuriated by the Gunners' effort to land Mustafi on the cheap.

lmao if true

That'd be a Welbeck level signing. What next Anderson?

wasnt trying to be harsh on him at all, i was comparing them because he is an elite prospect and he has a £55m release clause, while mustafi's is about £12m less i think. they are similar current talents, mustafi is a few years older. and it was more to highlight how fucking awesome kos is

From those stats it looks as if Mustafi is even more awesome.

Putting aside my Man U hatred, Evans would be a decent squad addition, but so so underwhelming as a starting CB. If Wenger ends up getting him and paying anything close to 20mil then it is just further confirmation of his complete incompetence in the transfer market. Let's just cross our fingers that Valencia soften their position.

judging by the below, cross has turned on him

Difficult for most people who support Wenger or our sympathetic to his views to defend his summer action in light of all that's come before the last few years and good bizarre defence of such actions. Cross is undoubtedly pro Wenger but he is also an arsenal fan and at some point those paths have to diverge.

Which bit? We are not as big as Man U? .... well, ... we aren't.

Or that it's nice and tidy to lock these threads? ... I was being heavily sarcastic.

Rumours are Barca are close to agreeing a deal with Valencia for Paco Alcacer. If they sell him they'll be under even less or possibly no pressure to sell Mustafi at all.

lol. sounds about right.
we have enough defenders, guys. Wenger isn't going to buy another defender when he has internal solutions.

Which bit?

The bit where you talk about pretending to be as big as United. That type of statement you won't even read on a Bolton forum so I'm not sure what you're trying to point out here. You might want to try redcafe, they have a couple Arsenal fans I hear.

I have no ideas what you are on about.

Wenger is simply the guy who doesn't revise for his exams in time, and has to cram in what he can the night before, and so is insufficiently prepared.
