Shkodran Mustafi is training alone as he waits for Arsenal to finalise his transfer.

The German defender is subject of interest from the Gunners and, according to his representatives, has agreed personal terms with the north London club on a move to the Emirates.

While Valencia insist they are not negotiating with any club over the 24-year-old, sources at the Spanish club concede that there are unlikely to be any complications should Arsenal meet the €25million (£21m) asking price.

Officially, the World Cup-winning centre-back is training alone to aid his return to full fitness.

£21m is what they want. and this deal isnt already done.

i hope im the victim of a home invasion tonight and the burglar kills me.

They left him out of their squad even before we were rumoured to be in the mix IIRC, makes me doubt it's more than 25-30 million at most

Just sign a top centreback - don't dick about with guys like Toprak and Kjaer.

Wenger used to bang on about only adding super quality - he doesn't do it often

Wenger is full of shit.

what do you have in your house? address?

there's something quite rotten at Arsenal. we don't have the required level of skills in transfer negotiation, fitness/conditioning/health, and possibly in negotiating commercial contracts as well. we're basically being run like a mom-and-pop shop. and as much as Wenger makes our blood boil, we need to look to the man who has held a majority of shares for 7 years. it's his responsibility to get a functioning management in place.

ONE thread that is barely alive .... this is the worst transfer season ever I reckon.

this is how Wenger survives: fans have short memories. we signed NO outfield players last year. Zero! Zip! Nada! Fuck-all!

Yes, Elneny and now Xhaka .... but still ... it certainly FEELS like the worst ever.

Im certainly extremely bored of the whole Mustafi thing now. I just glance over it on Twitter. Its clear we dont have any serious interest or we would be done by now. Our club is a joke.

We used to have to make 25m every summer to break even. We'd sell our best player and not replace him. And this is the worst summer ever? Sounds more like your winter of discontent.

That's what too much Twitter, papers and general overexposure will do to you.

Yep, stop overly exposing yourself Dillinger!

Been a while since we had a real reason to shake our willy.

Last summer was worse. I still think we'll get someone else, although the quality of said player remains to be seen.

I sometimes think we deliberately wait until the end of the window to make a big signing to make us fans feel relieved and make our summer look better than it really was.

Not really we went for vardy, holding, xhaka at the start.

Players like Ozil wanted to go to a bigger club so only came here at the end of the window when nobody else would pay the £42M.

Xhaka was potentially a great signing (if he gets up to speed quickly).. Holding may end up being a great signing, but he's 20.. Asano is a project.

It has been known for quite some time now that we need a top striker to compete with/replace Giroud and an established CB. We have seen this summer come and almost go with absolutely no chance of signing one of these 2 pivotal spots in the team. If you want to say Vardy, ok, but he turned us down a month ago (which in itself is a joke that we can't prise a 29 year old from Leicester regardless if they just won the league last year). Otherwise, we have known for a while that Per is out, Kos wouldnt be back on time and now Gabriel is out (and wasn't really a starter IMO anyway by anything other than necessity)..

I'm not a Wenger-hater, but even I can see how much he is fucking up. We have loads of cash ready to be used by transfers. 30m is not a lot by todays standards, and to claim (if true) that we need to keep that type of cash for a striker is ludicrous. We had at least 150m in the kitty. We've spent maybe a third of it. That leaves 100m (or so) left. You're telling me that we cant get a top tier striker (or one that is at least as good if not potentially better than Olly) and a CB for that price? Seriously? Does the club/board/Wenger really think we are that dumb? Or does Wenger simply feel that he is the only one that watches other football and no one else knows how good or not good a player is?

Meh.. im rambling, but its clear as vodka what we need and we aren't getting it. Stop going for cut rate players (i mean, Kjaer is being thrown about.. Fonte is being thrown about - good player, but 32) and get someone. If Valencia wants 25m for Mustafi, give it to them. If Lyon wants 70m for Lacazette, well, im less inclined to meet that price (I'd rather take Mahrez for considerably less).. But GET SOMEONE... someone that can make a difference.

We've had 4 glaring problems in our squad over the past 4 or 5 seasons. We have addressed 2, and it took 3 seasons to do it. (GK and CM).. Now get a CB and get a striker/forward. This isnt rocket science.

in the next window we would need a CM and a winger when ozil and sanchez leaves

All I see are a bunch of unsubstantiated statements from Speedy which have nothing to back them up.

I can see where you've gone wrong, inbetween my comments are comments from other people. If you go back and read them it should all make a lot more sense to you sir.
