It seems we will miss the boat with big Sam too with his imminent appointment, Moyes to Sunderland apparently.
Next England manager?
The FA only appointed Sam after Wenger rejected the role.
He was unhappy that 4th in the group doesn't qualify for the WC.
Allardyce it is then for new look post-Brexit England.
Haha kind of perfect.
I do think he's a good choice though. England are in a talent slump, they need a manager who can get something out of the rag tag bunch they have. Big Sam is a solid, simplistic tactician who will play to their strengths and he's a pretty good motivator. And he gives entertaining interviews.
Big Sam is definitely not the worst choice for England.
Miles better than Steve Bruce for example.
Interesting.
Seeing Big Sam in the world cup. The world has changed.
A decade ago it's unthinkable England will be down to Allardyce.

I wouldn't bet big money on this England side qualifying.
They've got a pretty easy group though - Slovakia are the biggest threats, then Scotland, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta. I think they'll qualify easily enough. I also think Sam is almost the perfect manager for England at the moment. I wish he was coaching defence at Arsenal too - certainly not everything, but he's an excellent coach of defence and technique.
I think he'll handle the egos just fine and will create a good team atmosphere.
Good choice, commeth the hour commeth the man.
I had hoped it would be Wenger because I hate him and want to be rid of him.
Lets face it England are not Spain Germany Brazil or Argentina, they do have their own culture of football and you is what you is, the genius of a manager has always been to get the most out of what he had to work with and I think that Allardyce can capture the Zeitgeist and they will do well.
He's kind of no nonsense which is what we need.
He's the kind of manager English players can relate to.
"I was interviewed for the England job in 2006 when Steve McClaren got it. I didn't begrudge him the job but I was never contacted after the interview. In future, I won't bother with England. A bureaucratic organisation summed up by 3 Cs, Clueless, Classless, Cunts. Even the girl at the reception was up herself."
No prizes for guessing who said this in his biography.

I'm interested in the girl at the reception.
I think Sam is a good choice, at least he won't take any BS from the players. And I hope he shoots Jose down in flames.
Think Wenger will be very interested in the England job if he leaves Arsenal next summer. He normally rubbished it off but after what he said post Basel and today it's not his usual flat out denial anymore.
"One day, if I'm free, why not?" said Wenger, 66, when asked about the role.
Dont think he's off after this season.

He never flat out refuses anything. This is what he said in the summer
And, quizzed about his future on beIN Sports, the Frenchman suggested it is very much up in the air.
Wenger, 66, said: โI have a contract until 2017 with Arsenal and I have always respected my contracts, but I donโt know what Iโll do after.โ
You can find similar quotes when he's been linked to the PSG and Real Madrid gigs as well.
His full quote today was:
My priority is to do well here this has always been my club but one day if I am free, why not, but at the moment I am focussed on my job.
Have to think Arsene would expect to hold the job for 8 years so he could have a larger impact instead of managing a team for a single tournament (or two). Not sure he's the right fit, and possibly by his own admission, for immediate, one off results (coaching the current squad for the 2020 WC for example).
