Sam's got no joie de vivre and a low ceiling, bad choice in my opinion. Picking him is basically telling a bunch of internationals that middling performances are expected.
Next England manager?

Don't think so Invis, international football is very different to league football, you just have to get a team to gradually build up to a peak in form for a very short time in a tournament rather than build a level of consistency over a long season.
And as was demonstrated most recently in the Euro's this favours sides that play a style designed not to lose, I don't think many English fans would complain if their team 1-0'd to the semi's/final, well maybe a few hipster purists but they're all wankers.

You've had Serie A winning Sven and the legend Capello. Clearly having a highly successful manager hasn't solved England's problems. And then let's look at international teams. Wales made the top 4 with a guy who would be at best an assistant manager at Arsenal. Having a big guy is overrated. Sam is going to do it. He should build a gritty team in his image. Guys like Sterling beware.
It's not about having a grifter like Eriksson or an uptight dinosaur like Capello.
Just get someone in who's progressive, has a point to prove and a positive attitude, like Coleman. Allardyce is not a bad manager, but he's very much a known and mediocre quantity and to choose him would be to announce the expectation of mediocrity.
The future of English football: Allardyces selecting Milners forever? England's football doesn't need to be as grey as its skies.
That's unfair. Sami Allardicci only selects Milners because he has never been given the chance to manage a rich team. He gave us two very different Bolton teams. One with nothing but grafters, and then a progressive one with Jay Jay Okocha that was actually quite soft on the eyes.
He will organise the boys well, and I think he will be comfortable ignoring the press as he picks. He also won't do something as ridiculous as play an imperfect Rooney and an unfit Wilshere as his main playmakers.
It is unfair, we're talking about the man who played JJ Okocha and Anelka, and I disagree that he is a known quantity, just like Jack Charltons Rep of Ireland Johnny Foreigner won't know how to play against them.
Teams should always play to their strengths and lets be honest velvety pussyball is not an English virtue.
I think Sam will make England play to its strength which is a good thing because that's exactly the previous one lacked. He's going to be extremely pragmatic and it can bring England further than their usual standards (which is honestly not difficult), but they won't win anything other him.
Well they couldn't be worse, even if they are extremely difficult to beat and can pull off the odd decent victory that would be an improvement.
Allardyce is a ticket to nowhere.
Good coach to bring in if you want to stop England from getting relegated from world football—which admittedly is looking a risk at the moment.

Nah. His long balls and long throws will work perfect in International football. His team will be extremely effective. Can foresee something like this.
Butland
Jones Smalling Shawcross Cresswell
Drinkwater Henderson Noble
Towsend Defoe Sterling
Solid.
Can't wait.
Someone shoot me.
Ugh.

But you must admit Burnsy that international football is a different beast, big Sam has spent his entire career as a relegation fighter, maybe that's exactly the sort of personality you need to motivate international players who usually spend their time at the other end of the table and are probably a bit tired.
International tournaments are short and sharp just like relegation dogfights.

Big Sam's got plenty of joie de vivre! He just doesn't share.

Nonsense. Andy Carroll not starting? Ina ll seriousness, was Carroll injured for Euro16 or just left out?
Actually I think Sam would do well with England too, in terms of results. No way would they have lost to Iceland with him in charge.
I think Carroll had been injured for about a year before he surprisingly started against and destroyed us.
Talk about a pair of dull, uninspiring candidates!
