You made it out to be a dramatically now or never situation by saying the first sentence.

Yes, the word "eventually" really gives it that urgent, theatrical "now or never" punch, doesn't it? You're right. History's stopped, time has reversed its arrow, I really haven't mastered the English language, and Jose Mourinho's United is about to embark on a ten year dynasty.

We are going to win the league.

The "now" does.

The "now" qualifies the present tense clause about their current footballing performance, and the "eventually" qualifies the simple future (with going) clause about the impact on their future financial performance.

But I do appreciate that the construction as a whole relies upon the notion of cause and effect, which in itself relies upon the notion of time, which we have both agreed is merely a figment of my imagination.

that's because wenger isn't an opponent, he's a speed bump on the way to success. moaninho just has a hard on for wenger so he reflexively has to talk about him.

Pep is such a smart manager. Love Pep.

Why the harsh words?

Feel sad seeing Arteta there. πŸ™

I'll confess, I felt quite sad also.

Well why don't you send him some flowers with a little note saying how you feel.

7 days later

Probably by selling Mata again. πŸ˜†

πŸ˜†  That wouldn't free up much space.

ibrahimovic loves mourinho, isn't it? read sometime ago on him singing flowing praises on moureen. I thought you'd use this as a stick to beat wenger with biggus...mourinho's superior man management skills over wenger/

No point.....Everyone knows that Mourinho is a better manager than Wenger both tactically and motivation wise in almost every way in fact except saving the owner money and I don't care about that.

Too bad they'll still allow violent thuggery. Ref usually deserves being surrounded in this league.

That doesn't make any sense, you seem to be criticising referees for allowing "violent thuggery" without giving any example of this and in the second part of the sentence you seem to be advocating intimidating them.
Very contradictory.

Being a ref is a hard job.

Not giving an example isn't not making sense.

There's certainly a fair bit of dangerous play in the Premier League.

Being a ref isn't that hard a job, at the end of the day you get away with missing calls so long as you don't fuck up worse than all the other refs.

For me the bugbear is still diving though, they need to bring in retrospective sanctions based on video for that.

Oh you've reffed some games Burnsy, do share.

Jose on Pogba:

"I don't confirm and I don't deny," said United boss Jose Mourinho. "I cannot tell you."

"I don't think it is correct to speak about players of other clubs. My directors did a fantastic work to do 75% of the job I ask them to do. I gave them a few options. We have just 25% to do until 31 August.

"We are in great conditions and we are powerful in the markets. We are calm. We have three faces to fill the profile. I am confident Mr Woodward will get the player we need to get a good balance. It's quite close but not yet."

Pogba's done.

I have actuallyβ€”I used to ref interschool lightning carnivals regularly. πŸ˜‰

But either way, I gave my reasoning above. Being a ref isn't an impossible task because you're only judged relative to your peers.

Not impossible but a hard job, and you're judged whether you got the call correct or not.
And in the case of a collision in the penalty area there are three possibilities-

  1. Penalty
  2. Dive
  3. Play on

And this decision has to be taken in real time.

You're not listening to what I'm saying.

It's like saying being an oncologist's a "hard job" because sometimes there's nothing you can do, and your patients die. No one's going to judge an oncologist just because a few of their patients don't make itβ€”they'll compare them to other oncologists.

So the matter of the work is hard, but the judgements of others are tempered.

Being a ref is a hard job.

Players complaining is obviously not the biggest problem with refereeing in football, if it even really is a problem. Last thing on the list done first as usual.

You can see some of Pep's philosophy already.

Chelsea making some serious investment in an already decent squad.

Kante
Batshuayi

  • actively looking at CB's like Koulibaly and CF's like Morata

With Conte at helm i think they are gonna be a force to reckon with.

They'll need to do a lot more to become a force. Kante is a serious addition but Batshuayi is just a back up for Costa, not really a big deal signing.

Delph says he has learnt more in 3 weeks with pep than his entire career and he might play CB.

Would really have wished to see Pep managing Arsenal and what he will do to some of our players.

Why does Biggus have a line through his name, I hope he hasn't been banned.

Nice turn and strike by Ross. Always liked him, such a powerful runner and has that magic in him.
