  • Alexandre Lacazette (Breaking: Lyon confirm 35m euro bid)

Bit ironic that for all our complaining about the guy who starts for France we're now going for the guy who doesn't make the squad.

and what was your view on arsenal signing the starting RB for france to replace his backup?

anyway if walcott had fulfilled his potential he would be this guy and we wouldn't be looking for a striker so i don't see what's wrong with signing him since we actually are looking for a striker and the top tier guys are apparently out of our league.

What exactly is wrong with Lacazette?

Anyone?

He's too "Spursy" for me. The type of player who does well for a lower standard team, but will definitely struggle to take the step up. Basically french Soldado.

So those who are against Lacazette, would you rather start with Walcott upfront?

Fair point, I thought he'd be good. He didn't start all that badly before the first injury but then got overtaken by someone better and had a bad attitude.

I guess if we do get anyone it's going to be more added depth than an upgrade as we won't pay the fees required for the top guys. Admittedly I don't follow the French league so haven't seen him play, but just based on the fact that Giroud is the number 1 for France, Gignac number 2 and this guy isn't in the conversation, it's not unreasonable to see him as a downgrade and scraping the barrel again. I suppose he only needs to be better than Walcott and Welbeck so the bar is low to begin with.

Surely these are not our only options?

Cant agree to the notion we have to pay £40m+ for this guy just so "we wouldnt have to start Walcott".

Dilemmas like that are stupid, and people who say no to Lacazette obviously wants us to sign someone else.

I would take Lacazette, I think he can be Griezmann-esque. We lack players with speed, quick feet and close control, who know how to finish.

He's a French Defoe. Which is adequate for now given that we are not getting a Higuain/Ibrahimovic level player. Add Mahrez and the attack is significantly more dynamic.

Just starting to get annoyed that we are 2 1/2 weeks away from opening day and we still need two forwards. Wenger is only slightly starting to annoy me

I would take that considering how many top strikers are actually available.

However, with Wenger already saying we're looking for a CB, I doubt we'll be willing to do all three: A CB, Mahrez and Lacazette.

Mustafi, Mahrez and Lacazette would be a decent haul, but that would actually mean pulling our finger out and doing something. Not getting exciting until I see someone on Arsenal.com

Honestly can't say I'd be disappointed. A front line of Lacazette, Sanchez, and Mahrez with Ozil behind them could score against absolutely anyone, and putting Ozil and Sanchez out wide with Lacazette and Giroud up top doesn't look half bad either.

I was slightly underwhelmed at the prospect of signing Lacazette. Then I saw this.

Thanks.

Getting to a state where im almost starting to accept him as a possible solution, to avoid seeing Walcott start for us.

Oh, but this needs to be sweetened heavily by a good winger (Mahrez or Draxler).

My thoughts exactly. Sanchez--Lacazette--Mahrez is a much better front 3 than what can field right now.

shit i would have been happy with ben yedder over the thought of shitty walcott and the fact that sevilla signed him makes me like him even more because them and atletico know strikers. so hell yes to lacazette, even a hell yes to his would be replacement at lyon maxwel cornet.

It's not difficult to find someone better than Theo in current form. He wouldn't even start for Sunderland, Defoe is better so let alone Lacazette.

If he don't sell him and he brings this form till christmas then well done, goes into my top 10 list of worst players I have seen under Wenger.

Comfortably number 1 for me if you multiply his level of footballing ineptitude with the number of years we've had to watch him.

And then you consider some £7m a year spent on him. And Kleenex will never make enough tissues for the tears
