So it looks like Johnson will almost certainly call a snap election if MPs pass more legislation blocking/delaying Brexit tomorrow/weds. Current polls indicate that the Tories would win a big majority, especially if they form a pact with the Brexit party.

If Corbyn is smart, he'd vote against a GE but I can't see him doing so, and I certainly can't see him forming any sort of pact with the Lib Dems. Boris and Cummings will have played a blinder, the rest of us will be fucked.

The polls had May ahead in the last election by 21 points which turned out to be what 6-7 in the election? Now they've Boris with an 11 point lead. If I was Corbyn I'd take the chance. What else can he do anyway?

May didn't campaign though, she ran possibly the worst campaign imaginable - Corbyn's very good at campaigning but so is Boris Johnson.

Also the Lib Dems were a non factor last time around. There's been a clear swing towards them since the last GE from the Young/Remain demographic. Farage on the other hand has already said he'll help the Tories.

He can attach a condition of extending the deadline or whatever and box Johnson into a corner. An election in the next few months is inevitable anyway, but he can't fall into the trap of making it solely about Brexit which is exactly what will happen under BJs terms.

If Johnson follows through with his threat to remove the whip from rebel Tories we may have a ludicrous situation where you have a minority government significantly short of a majority, while at the same time not being able to call a general election 😆

calling an election 2 weeks before the brexit deadline seems to slapdash in and of itself

to call a snap election they need 2/3 support, right? and i read somewhere that labour will only vote to have a new election if they first pass the bill to extend the leave deadline to january 2020.
