The stuff on this thread is unbelievable.
Rex is right. People are lazy, ignorant.
Trump filled a void in the American politic, in the Republican party. And now the reactionary, obstructionists gain as they grab onto his coat tails.
Burnwinter brings up a really good point about creating new political structures.
Trump is NOT a brilliant communicator. He is the barker at the carnival, a con artist, a brilliant manipulator of reaching into the minds of greedy Americans. He appeals to the basic instincts and succeeds. A man of hollow words. What exactly does he say that has any substance.
What is mystifying to me is the widespread appeal to well off whites, retirees and middle class Americans. It was not all about white working class males. In the precinct where I worked, the results showed for every 1 Hillary vote there were 5 Trump votes. Yes, this area is a heavy, very white Republican area, rural in some ways. And I watched women of all ages come through, retirees, and only 1 out of 5 voted for her. When I saw the results, I felt very uneasy, even though this precinct was a minuscule sampling of America, or so I thought. For some it is all about being a Republican first and foremost, never mind character, experience. In the end, her years of public service did not help her as much as they should have. That, the threat of a woman president scared both men and women who are still unconsciously kneeling at the feet of males.
Although I am not a fan of Hillary, she brought a lot to the table and tried to get out of the cycle of personality attacks and tried to focus on the issues.
Her managers did make serious mistakes, and yet at the same time they didn't expect Comey and FBI to play such a significant role in her defeat. The July letter was close to a KO punch for the Dems. And Dirt bag Assange spread his message of love and compassion with strong results.
Qwiss was right when he said the media should have focused on policy and nailed Trump with some of his indecencies, not just the bashing of women, but the racist issue, Russia, the Khan family, etc.
I think she won the popular vote. She lost the election.
The Dems lost the Senate, never had the House, and now face decades of reactionary decisions from the Supreme Court.
The worst of days ahead. The Obama administration, what it has achieved, much of it down the drain as the fat cats get fatter and the poor get poorer.
So the Hillary haters have their day. They have the fascist, with his court of mad men. If you think Trump is a loony tune, Giuliani is already saying that Trump will turn out to be one of the great, I repeat great, American presidents.
All one can do is fight fascism, call out his lies and deceits, and struggle to maintain some dignity in the process.
You know, we go high, they go low.
Poor Michelle....She will have to welcome him to the White House.
