If this happens then it may mean Sanchez to City.
No it doesn't. Why do you have to spin everything negatively?
They've won the league but people still don't believe in Leicester. It's like it didn't really happen.
What? Sanchez to Leicester City then?

There were rumours of Sanchez to city under Pep last month.

We're not set up to defend for a counterattacking system though. Monreal/Kos/Gabriel/Bellerin are high line players and we don't have any midfielders who are good, consistent positional defenders. Not like Wenger's gonna crack the whip on that front either, occasional big game aside.
If we play 4-3-3 Cazorla would be in CM, you can't have two hotheads like Ramsey and Wilshere in CM together against serious opposition. Wilshere is an attack dog and Ramsey is a glory-hunting prima donna. Cazorla's probably not going to be very good after this injury, but at least he strings passes together and does what he's supposed to. At Arsenal there's four players in the XI who feel entitled to do whatever they want on the football pitch.
There's so little technical quality in the squad for the type of football Wenger tries to play. Xhaka and Vardy are very interesting signings. I'm feeling a system change.
We have the players we have but were gonna be a counter attacking side. Even this season every opposition manager said the same thing about us. Arsenal are a good counter attacking side.

Mzee, this makes little to no sense.
We definitely looked more like a counter attacking team with Theo up front. People said it was because of the midfield, that we couldn't "control" games, and I agree, but the front 3 were equally responsible. Theo Sanchez Ramsey isn't a very technical front 3. The Leicester and United games were perfect examples of our 'new' style.
Unfortunately injuries/form caused a change back to the other style of play.
Happy with Vardy the player, but not Vardy the person. At least Suarez seemed like a decent bloke off the pitch. It probably shouldn't be a football fan's concern, but I can't help but feel we're better off in that respect.

He's the only player in Premier League history who has been suspended and fined for racially abusing someone else (fair enough, it happened on the pitch). How is his character any better than Vardy's? Both seem like objectionable human beings to me. At least Vardy doesn't bite.
Dont want , waste of money. We should aim higher
Yes and having a team of nice guys has really done us well over the years.

He's clearly from a lower class background, a "chav" if you will, but I doubt very much that he's some sort of racist monster because he got pissed out of his mind said something regrettable and stupid. He seemed to get on very well with Okazaki, for example.
how many pounds over his price have we offered? hopefully more than one this time.
I don't think Vardy is racist.

Just some soundbites that Metro quoted, I think it might be from his pundit work during the international round the other day, but they were mildly interesting: http://metro.co.uk/2016/06/03/has-arsene-wenger-just-confirmed-that-olivier-giroud-isnt-the-right-man-for-arsenal-5921632/
‘What has happened is in the last 10 years, strikers have become quicker and quicker,’ Wenger explained.
‘What happened then? The defence responded by creating defenders who are quicker and quicker. So now to put in strikers who are slow, you have really a big problem.’
It's from his EC preview series on BEIN Sports - AW's Greatest Teams.
AW is soooo frustrating - you listen to him being so knowledgeable and authoritative in the series, and then he says the above and you say to yourself WTF = do as I say not do as I do?
It's possible he doesn't think Giroud is slow.
Happy with this however I'd also be disappointed if the pursuit to improve the attack/CF were to end with this alone. IMO we want another CF signing & the question to be answered by that is Vardy the replacement starter or from off the bench.
Janssen would indicate Vardy as a starting role, whilst Morata would likely be a starter.
Interesting that this happens at the start of the 2 week window for RM to buy back Morata, and after the talk of Lewandowski in talks with RM and Juve supposedly resigned to losing Morata.
Gazza M wrote:well damn. didnt think wenger had it in him. the only time i can remember him going for an established striker pushing 30 is davor suker
Yep. Exciting move.
This isn't an "optimal" signing but Vardy is the upgrade on Giroud we've all been demanding. If he can sustain his extraordinary scoring form with better players around him it will stand us in very good stead.
It's an improvement on current options, but will still blow up in AW's face if he does nothing more and we see the likes of Lewandowski, Zlatan, Morata, Higuain, Benzema, PEA, Lukaku, Benteke, Batshuayi, Lacazette, Costa & Sturridge all moving.
