So was Leicester's and Liverpool 13-14 when they cam a slip away from winning it. Being able to concentrate mostly on only one competition seems to go a long way making up for the deficit in quality. Eitherway I'm worried about our second half of the season, reminds me of 13-14 again when we were leading by Christmas but after playing all the big teams away in the second half we ended up barely clinching top four.
We lost in 2013/14 because we went on a 9 or 10 game run where we only won 2 games to all types of opposition, both home and away. We lost to Chelsea and Liverpool away during that time but we also lost to away to smaller teams like Stoke and Everton away. Even at home we weren't doing the business dropping points at home to City, United as well as the likes of Swansea during that same period.
It's all and good and well saying we have played home a lot vs away and because of that our chances are not that good, but away games against the top teams are like maybe 4 or 5 games a season, with another 30 odd games left to do the real donkey work. If you do the job against the small to medium teams and remember to perform against the big sides at home then the away form against the top teams isn't as crucial. Many teams have built successful, title winning seasons based on that.
