I admire your enthusiasm but we've never won confortable hat United even when we had the best team in the country.

There's a lot riding on the United game because it would be our first real big test away from home in the league and the result will have ramifications for both teams. I think we are up against it here a bit with the timing. It would probably be another end to end game as we will play an open game by design.

I don't know about you guys but certain elements of the Sunderland game truly worried me and our soft underbelly reared its ugly head in between gifting them the penalty and suddenly finding ourself on the back foot. City kill these kind of games off and rarely get into this kind of bother. Can't see how we are going to end up on top unless we magically discover some serious killer instinct.

I think you guys have bigged up one game far too much. That said, the run of games where we play United, Spurs and PSG will tell us more about this team than any of our last 10. Personally I'm not too optimistic - they both play the sort of football that stifles our strengths. More than winning those games, we cannot let Spurs or United gain ground on us.

On the flip side, City are still favourites to the title and Wenger has a decent record against City (and Guardiola, to an extent)

Chelsea still have a lot of the players who won the title 2 seasons ago so I wouldn't write them off. I do think defensively they are not as strong and teams will eventually suss out Conte's 3 at back setup.

the spurs aren't going to be this impotent forever. their defensive solidarity is impressive and that can hold up over the course of a season.

I think Chelsea are our biggest threat after City. Liverpool are a threat too without euro football but still don't think they have enough. Tottenham are a top four side, nothing more.

The actual numbers don't back that up, we've conceded 10, City and Chelsea have conceded 9 and Liverpool have conceded 13. We've also conceded very few goals since Kostafi entered the fray. Tottenham are significant better in this respect but then they hardly score so it evens out.

We have a point more than we did after 10 last season, scored 5 more and conceded 2 more.

The difference: feel good factor due to the big win over Chelsea, the more mobile, dangerous look to our attack and the signing of Granit, Mustafi and Perez.

Is that enough to finish ahead of City, Chelsea? (I reckon the title's between the three of us).

Games against the kind of teams who stifle and press will tell a lot.

Looking no further than Spurs next Sunday for evidence that we have the maturity and smarts to beat a relentlessly energetic, highly organised side.

Don't think we look strong defensively at all with all the clear cut chances we have allowed the opposition. No doubt that will improve when the midfield settles and as the Kostafi partnership gels though.

I think the defence is much more assured looking than some previous seasons given there's no glaring weakness (Mertesacker's pace etc) but we'll need Mustafi and Kos to remain fit because their back-ups aren't particularly inspiring. Since that opening day defeat we've only let in 6 goals in 9 PL games which is cause for optimism no matter what.

The other difference is we are looking solid in all competitions too, this time last year the CL was a disaster area for us.

Those two late wins against Southampton and Burnley were huge, we'd be in 6th place (at best) without those wins and the mood would be very different. These small things can turn a season.

The squadies have stepped up this season which needs to continue. Theo has 8 goals in 10 games which is great by anyone's standards. Ox has scored as many in the 12 games this season as he scored in the previous 70, while Gibbs has seemingly stepped it up in time to take over from Nacho who's struggling for form, Giroud came back with a bang. Then there's central midfield which despite being depleted still looked strong at the weekend. The only area that concerns me is centre back. Gabriel doesn't give me any confidence right now, Holding is still young and Mert is out for a while. Need Kostafi to stay fit.

We know Giroud will make good contributions over the course of the season. I think the big questions are whether Walcott can sustain his goalscoring form (probably not) and whether Ramsey can make a positive impact (maybe).

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Both Kos and Mus have had their dodgy moments individually over the last few matches, but as a whole we are looking tasty at the back (all of our GKs are playing well and Bellerin is just out of this world).

And we have to remember that defensive stat is distorted by the 4 goals we conceded at the start of the season.
