He said he was looking to sign 3 players. Nothing about a maximum.

Not that one should give credence to what Wenger says about transfers anyway.

A few of those guys are earmarked to leave or go out on loan though, but I guess we could just register a couple of youths worst case scenario.

Gibbs might have already told wenger he wants out, which leaves us with only a 30 year old monreal coming off some average form. In that context the signing makes sense

I think too much is being made out of Monreal's poor form. He was still one of our best performers last season and 30 years is hardly ancient

That said I'm a fan of Rodriguez and I'd like to see him come in. Maybe even move Monreal in the middle, would give us someone there who can pass a ball without breaking a leg

Calling anyone other than ozil 'one of our best performers last season' is damning with faint praise. There was a very noticeable drop from nacho compared to his 14-15 form, and it wasn't only to do with the surrounding team being poor

I thought his drop didn't come until the second half of the season when everyone turned to shit. His first half of the season was great

And regardless, my point was more that this general talk of Monreal having had an average season implying he's done is a bit premature. Plenty full backs who've had great season at 30+

On Tuesday morning, was for the Nati another training on the program. In pouring rain Coach Vladimir Petkovic let pass the players ball exercises. On the sodden turf in Cornaredo Stadium in Lugano unity degenerated into water battle. could not join in goalie Yann Sommer (cold) and - from unspecified reasons - Ricardo Rodriguez.

Wenger only cares about the CL and basically lost his mind at Monreal after we conceded the first goal at home, despite it not really being Nacho's fault. Have no doubt that he drew up a list of left backs to scout immediately afterward
