We paid £16m for a bit of a dud in Welbeck.

To me Higuaín would be money well spent, a gettable player with lots of experience at centre forward, not a project, a proven scorer. Not a fox in the box, he's no Franny Jeffers anyway, come on. 🙂

We might be able to take Giroud into next season but realistically we need at least one more forward with a lot of goals in him.

Welbeck will come good and start scoring. We aint buying a CF/ST type this summer, im sure.

For the league to be within reach at all, we need reinforcements in other positions first and foremost though.

Why? Drogba and Remy aren't that good.

Remy is dependable though. Doesn't play much but does a job whenever he comes on. Good positional play. 7 goals is not a bad return for someone who's only made 8 starts. If they need him for an extended run he will perform.

I'd take Higuain as a squad option too, but I think we should be looking at someone younger and more moldable. I would have spent £30 million without blinking on someone like Morata, but we can forget about that now.

Pretty much. Then add Schneiderlin and call it a day. Not any sort of guarantee we will win the league, but we will at least have given ourselves a proper chance.

We missed a trick on Remy. He is a much better short term buy than Welbeck.

Welbeck won't be a starter, but is a great backup striker/winger. The question is, is he happy with that, I don't think he is.

I would prefer someone better than Schneiderlin. Pogba, Laporte, Koke etc.

I think we need a goalscorer, a central midfielder who can pass and run all day and a central defender who can defend and pass the ball. Spend $80 mill on two players and call it a day. The rest of the squad is pretty good as it is.

Schniederlin and Reus is actually great work for the summer, assuming we keep our goalie, etc. Don't need much more than that. Just shake the deadwood and we are ready for a good campaign.

Agreed, he isn't a fox in the box anyway, he played wide for RM plenty of times. Also I think Giroud can keep good form for half a season, then keep Higuain as a reliable option to cover him.

Not that impressed by Schneiderlin this year. Decent player, but not great.

First half of the season, he was probably one of the top two central midfielders with Cesc. They've both gone quiet in the latter half of the season. On our team, where there is more depth and he'd be rotated with Ramsey and Coquelin, he'd perform at a high level all season. Would really give us versatility to move between very attacking teams and more defensive set-ups
