He looked pretty good at LB against us and he is a monster at CB. Won't cost much too

Not about the cost, but that of he's LB cover then Zinchenko will probably be considered purely a midfield signing and they'll think we don't need another one.

If we are playing 433, I can deal with Zinchenko as LCM and Odegaard as RCM.

Especially if we can get a world class winger I think we don't need another CM? I don't really believe the Sane links but a quality of that range would be pretty sick. And since we budgeted so much for Martinez+Raphinha you would have to think we have plenty left after signing the cheaper Zinchenko.

I have been feeling a little uneasy about the potential marginalisation of Smith Rowe and Martinelli next season. I get the point on abundant playing opportunities and optimal fitness through rotation, but feeling still holds. They're both so legit and hopefully they'll show up well in these pre-season games. We absolutely could use an elite goal scorer but to me it need not foremost be on the left side. Most importantly, I'm with Quincy in that I'd rather we made an elite addition to the engine room than LW or LB.

Also, why Nelson hasn't developed into a Sane-type ruthless counter attacker, I'll not completely understand. So frustrating.

Smith Rowe is more of a worry, he had a very poor second half of the season imo and a lot of his goals felt like they came during a purple patch.

Martinelli will be fine, he seems to do most things right but needs to develop a killer instinct and score more.

Strange cos Martinelli showed that killer instinct but almost nothing else in his first season. Scored 10 or 11 I think.

He is another Pepe. Good technically but no brain or guts.

My worry about ESR is that I don't the management holds him in the regard they should. I wouldn't be surprised if another season of not really being trusted leads to him looking for football eslewhere.

Nah, you were right. Martinelli did score like 10 goals across all comps in his debut season. Quincy's seems to be responding with stats from last season however.
