Very basic on the ball, would be underwhelming if this is supposed to be the big midfield signing. Also just got injured playing for the US

I think we're trying to raise transfer revenues by reducing the wage budget.
All the players we are letting go none are starting or match day subs other than PEA, who just so happens to be our top earner.
Other than PEA we're not touching the match day players until we have replacements signed, and we have Nketiah as cover for Laca until we get a starting CF.

You raise transfer revenues by selling players not by letting them go for free. Getting them off the wage budget only frees up your wage budget, why would one involve the other?

Because we'll use what little cash on hand we have to make the initial transfer, and then the wages saved will be used to cover repayments and wages for this season. Essentially our known wages at the start of the season (for those players already at the club), are already accounted for in our budget as part of our known operating cost which is already covered by our revenues before we are able to spend, meaning next season his wages and payments will be covered by our revenues as part of our known operating costs, and will be covered before we spend (as per our financial sustainable self sufficiency strategy).

That's not how budgets work, yes your known operating cost has an impact on how much you can spend on transfer fees but if that was the relevant part then everyone would just terminate player contracts. It would also fly in the face of our decision not to get mugged off by Roma for Xhaka last summer.

Elneny, AMN, Lokonga, Xhaka have all been discussed ad nauseam

Either personal animosity or complete absence of any planning. All other options are discarded when you take in the totality of decisions with regards to the squad

Any transfer budget is essentially disposable income and covers any additional costs, transfer fees, wages or new contracts. I really can't make head or tails of alot of this stuff. some of these decisions simply reek of inefficiency

There's a lot of evidence to suggest that Arteta is quite impulsive, the Tavares substitution being one of them. Making decisions on the fly is never a good thing when it comes to squad management and you can also end up backing yourself into a corner.

I suspect with Eddie though they're hoping he signs on if he gets enough mins and then gamble that they'll get enough from a tribunal if he goes to another PL club to make up for the lost peanuts we'll have likely been offered for him.

Everybody pays in instalments not just us, everyone amortises over the duration of their player's contracts, and everybody including us 'counts' revenue not yet received immediately. Especially the last part would not only be damaging to your own budget but also actually false accounting.

We also clearly have abandoned our self sustaining financial model, for about three seasons running we've posted massive losses even disregarding the effect of covid we would've been in the red.

I understand what you are saying, however we are not talking about bookkeeping but way the financial model is structured and applied.
I cannot remember who said it - I think it may have been PHW but I also recall it coming from 2 separate sources and at different times. If it has changed it may be a combination of both COVID and KSE achieving 100% ownership. Additionally we were always going to be in the red due to the loss of UCL and then UEL revenues as well as EPL prizemoney based on the finishing position, whilst we still had a bloated squad on UCL wages, and we've also p*ssed away over 200m in transfer value with our botched transfers.

Football.London's Chris Wheatley says we are keen on Armando Broja. We have done a lot of business with Chelsea but it's usually their older knackered players who come here, not their good young ones.

I must admit I am becoming a little concerned/not impressed by the number of tall CFs we are being linked with, unless they are a type of planB options we want to have as variety in the squad. Neither Broja nor Isak are known for their prowess in the air despite their height, so it makes me wonder what the attraction/fixation is.

Have you not seen the way Ramsdale launches the ball up the pitch? We need someone to win that ball and hold it up. As well as that we go wide almost all the time in our attacking moves so it makes sense to have a player who can get on the end of crosses. And its not like Broja, Vlahovic, etc haven't got anything else to them.
