I think that perhaps quite a few of us underestimated how much not being in the CL would affect players' willingness to join them. I know I am one of them.

There were people who thought missing out on top 4 would be a good thing. I could never understand those people, strange logic.
i couldn't get excited for the 4th place chase, but i was never on board with the idea it was meaningless.
Truly hope United turn into another Liverpool - more money than sense, keep being shit on transfer market which causes managers to fail while top player prefer going elsewhere since the city is not as desirable and they have no CL.
Wouldn't count on United being out of things for long but it's clear their management/board/ownership is second rate right now. They need some people to build around. Van Gaal has a lot of pedigree but he won't be there for long, and the likes of Woodward clearly aren't up to snuff.

Yes but that was before sanchez, cambell, and sanogo's improvement. Unfortunately its becoming increasingly clear he is not going to buy a striker.
