Our standards nowadays apparently mean being happy about finishing 8th and signing unwanted players from clubs that should be our direct rivals. I think that's a bit more damning than people wishlisting a manager who's done well on Premier League's worst budget for a club that had nothing going for it and looked ready to crash down through the divisions when he took over.
Some people celebrated being hopelessly behind in the league in February because they figured it'd mean we would do great in Europa League, and then the same people celebrated being out of Europe altogether because they think it's going to make us amazing in the league next season. Now they've moved on to shitting on others for thinking that there might be other managers out there who could do better with the same resources. It follows a certain pattern of always being exactly wrong.
Potter is not Arsenal material mate.
Brighton finished 15th in 2017-2018, he's never got them above that position since his time here. Chris Wilder got Sheffield Utd, with a lower budget to 9th last season, should we go for him as well?
For the second part of your post, this is not a points contest re right v wrong. In football things change and you have to adapt expectations accordingly.
